Reggie Perrin is one of the first ones I put on the list! And one of the first TV programmes I actually watched and liked as a nipper. "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin"

Or did you mean the remake 8(

edit: I got the name the wrong way round though :|

edit 2: I wrote in to Jim'll Fix It to ask if I could meet Leonard Rossiter when I was about 9.

Thank fuck they never replied otherwise I think I'd be scarred for life.

^ My eyes must be broken. Or me noggin. Maybe it's time to go forage some ethanol 8)

We just agree to dis agree on this then yeah ?

I think so, Brimz. Everybody has one glaring weakpoint and we just found yours ;)

(yeah yeah, or mine... but it's not mine :D)

<3

Found that C4 one I was on about. Was actually a bit later than I recall. Which makes sense come to think of it cos we didn't get our (Betamax) video til the mid-80s so it had to be after that. Who said drugs screw the memory? No really who - I forgot.

It wasn't called SAS it was called Who Dares Wins. Various clips on PooToob, no idea if it's available on DVD or owt but probably not. May be shit now but I remember it fondly.

As discovered by flicking through this site which may also aid you in your quest for new comedy to watch, Knock. Plenty stuff on there I'd either forgotten or never heard of.

Who Dares Wins, yes I remember watching that, and I remember enjoying it but I don't remember anything about it. I'll seek it out! Thanks!

This has reminded me of A Kick Up The Eighties.

Responsible for launching Rik Mayalls career with Kevin Turvey (investigates)

I very dimly recall Kevin Turvey but was probably repeated at some point. Most of the early-mid 80s stuff is hazy at best cos I wasn't often allowed up to watch it. Fortunately MamaSham loved a lot of those shows so would let me stay up every now and then.

A more recent one that's been a bit overlooked imo - Nighty Night. Dark as fuck and also hilarious.

And speaking of dark as fuck, I presume League of Gentlemen and that other series they did I forget the name of was on the list?

EDIT: Steptoe & Son is brilliance.

very good one Brimz.

Then of course there's Till Death Us Do Part and In Sickness and in Health.

On my list ;)

Not on my list and although I did like it I don't really feel like I could cope with watching it again. Maybe I need to take a look at myself though.

Unfortunately the list is on a previous page now so would involve actual effort - two whole clicks and a scroll or so 8( - to check any thoughts against it. Consider superflous selections aimed at those who haven't got such an extensive list ;)

Alf Garnet stuff was also brilliance. Can't see any of those being repeated anytime soon either.

Warren Mitchell, man ahead of his time.

And speaking of socialists, did you know Clive Dunn joined Moselys British Union of Fascists, out of misguided patriotism, and when he saw what scum fascism was became a life-long socialist? I'll forgive him Dads Army for that. But not Grandad. :sus:

I did not know that, SHM. Now I do know that. Doesn't get him out of Grandad even slightly. I'll allow him one episode of Dad's Army. The rest should be ritually burnt in comedy neo-fascist stylee.

Can't believe you don't like Men Behaving Badly, Knock. I've loved it since being a kid. That's quite an impressive list, although, I'd be adding The Ricky Gervais Show, and An Idiot Abroad, as I said a few pages back (unless you've already shunned them). I'll have a think, because you've named an awful lot of stuff there! I take it you're only after UK stuff? I can't see much, if any, US stuff on there. Oh, watch Pete Versus Life! It's fucking hilarious, and everyone should have watched it. I've no idea why it never really took off. Watch one episode and you'll get the idea. The main guy is Rafe Spall, from Life of Pi and he plays both parts pretty amazingly, seeing as the guy from Life of Pi is American, and he's a cockney in Pete Versus Life. Top actor.

Thanks Treacle! Yes, US stuff is fine, and I've mentioned several US shows on the list (Curb, Seinfeld, Louis to name three. I haven't mentioned Frasier, I should have).

I'll be investigating Pete Versus Life!

Right I've got some shit to do (not just watching comedy programmes) so I'm not going to be sitting here saying thank you to everyone but that is no reason not to keep the good ideas coming ;)
