Back to you felix, you dunderheed :sus: . We get many nice lamps and electric fires, from auctions and people just giving us things, because, for some unbelievable reason,they couldn't find somebody with a van who would 'take it to the skip' for a few shillings. I help test the lamps and fires are working %) (not necessarily safe because I'm not a bloke and wouldn't know these things). So, if they're not working, I'll check the wiring and it that seems fine, I'll change the fuse. Sometimes the pieces are banjaxed according to my journeyman prognosis.

However, our life-long family friend has worked in the shop for free since my ma left my da about 6 years ago (they're reunited now for over two years because of [stroke]her wealthy lover's bankruptcy that I helped to finally nail the guy in my new job[/strike] their continuing love of each other and 'the wee man'). It's good though because he sold his business when he retired but couldn't stand being idol so, when my ma fucked off, he came in and rescued the business. Still works for free to this day. He's 75 and his experience is invaluable. He's as strong as an ox and builds every stick of our furniture. He knows what everything is, what it can be used for, and usually the year in which he last saw it :\

I often do the very local small deliveries on foot (I don't have a full licence, I should see to that). It's not usually a problem because people are going mad for this shitty Mexican pine that has nothing to it, and I'm only wee, but it's a breeze.

I think some people paint the units and mark up the price. Anytime I deliver something, they try to give me something. We do free delivery in our home town and I think they feel they want to give us something for the delivery. It's usually the old wonky table and chairs that can be fixed up very quickly and easily with some loctite and a wood clamp. I delivered a massive, manky, naked pine mirror and she asked me if it looked alright. My eyes immediately scanned for the first thing I could say it matches with.

She then gave me her old mahogany mirror and tried to tip me with monies, which I refused (her house is the street over from or shop). I did take the mirror and stick £9.50 on for myself but I still haven't sold. One time we had to remove several doors during a free delivery to get the stuff into the granny flat. Missed early evening menu and everything :o When we were done she said ''Thank you very much darlings, here's take this - get yourselves a bottle of mineral each'', and she handed us each £1..which we refused, of course.

So, yes, while I may be a squirrely patch face that doesn't know an M10 wingnut from a radiator key, I can change plug sockets ;) I usually prefer to get someone else to do it though, because i'm not very deft with my hands sometimes.

EDIT: I do apologise for not maintaining interesting or linear thought. One simple message, public or private, from anyone to say, ''Don, Just shut the fuck up for the night'', please do so. Feel free to make a thread, or even a poll.

In fact I demand an immediate ban. I'm sick of the isolationist dove lobby in here. Some among us are hawks, some are other raptors, and some are forewarnings to the rapture.

I know it's only a small purchase but bought a nice amount of Nag Champa for under 2quid. That smell is so nostalgic for me. Cannot wait!
