Hehe. I needed to get you back for posting that HUGE blue text in this thread after the Cubs lost. :D

red sox have been there plenty of times this last decade. BOOOORING.

the dodgers are so uninteresting that their fans don't sell out LCS games.

I was more referring to potentially hilarious Manny / Sox drama than anything. No need to get so defensive, gramps. ;)

And I have now officially turned off the Sox game. Too much for me.

hehe woops ;)

that was pretty unbelievable. i got home from work in the middle of the 8th just in time to see wheeler completely melt down. i dont think i've ever seen a pitcher look so rattled.

fuck, that really was something last night ... prob woulda had a heart attack if i had money on the game..

i've taken 12-1 about Philly ($20 outlay mid/late season), 7-1 about the Rays ($20 outlay at start of playoffs) and had 20-1 about Dodgers ($10 outlay after manny trade) ... also had a bad losing bet on the choking Mets at 16-1 ($100 outlay mid-season) ... damn mets ... santana is my boy and sucked me in.

props to the rays for getting it done. boston have so much talent they really disappointed...
let's hope the al beats the nl...

alasdair

anyone but the phillies. wait anyone but the rays!

so disappointing this year.

Perhaps it is that baseball is so boring and there is so much to do in the beautiful year-round weather than to go to an overpriced sporting event.

New York, LA and Chicago aren't Detroit or Memphis - there's other cool shit to do.

That's why LA can't keep an NFL team (getting ONE back now - at least THAT'S an exciting enough sport to devote a few hours to, in this one fan's opinion) in a 32 team league despite ranking number TWO by population.

too many red sox fans in this forum for me to be talking baseball, yes i'm a New Yorker as well as a yankee fan. Yes I know you hate me.

God damn right. But I also hate that you will probably sign the entire free agent market this winter.

Yup, I honestly didn't care too much about the whole no playoff thing and just wanted to rush it over. Mostly cause its gonna be pretty exciting to see who we get in these next couple months. I actually wanted the Rays to win it, would have been nice to see as it was there first time even in playoffs, oh well. Theres lots of talking going on now though, theres lots of possibilities for future signings but I want them to happen already. Derek Lowe, C.C., Burnett, Manny, any of em could be in pinstripes quite soon which is very exciting.

sabithia has hinted that he would like to play in california. i don't think any of these teams want to pay him what he wants. he also loves batting and might balk at going to an AL team because of it. the mets will need to sign a decent closer or setup man to interest him, depending on how healthy that rat billy wagner is. who wants to pitch 7 innings and then have the bullpen blow it for you half the time? i would also not be surprised to see serious arm injury in his next couple seasons after how he was overused by the brewers.

the dodgers stuck in a place where they have to sign manny, but likely will not offer him a long-term deal because they also can't afford it. obviously he has no loyalty anyway, so he could end up anywhere.

^ And Manny's 36 years old. :\

no, that's not it.

:)
Its not it. Dodger tickets are ridiculously cheap, something like $8. So the tickets certainly aren't overpriced.
Therefore, it must be the "better things to do" theory. I live in the area, and though I think about going to games at times and get invited to games at times, there's always something else I'd rather be doing. Although if most of the current Dodgers roster stays for next year, I actually will make it to a few games.

Seeing as Mark Sweeney, Jason Johnson, Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Greg Maddux, Casey Blake, Joe Beimel, Chan Ho Park ( all dodgers ) have already filed for free agency its safe to say you wont have the same team next year lol. Also Rafael Furcal, Jeff Kent and someone else I can't remember right now are also expected to file for free agency. Yes Manny is 36 yrs old, but still a serious hitter and major threat to any pitcher.
