I've traipsed the long and narrow for so long,
That my feet burn from the hot sand.
The prints of my feet look distorted from all the wear.
They seemed fossilized in the desert sand.
With only a straight line disrupting there sequence.
This cross digs into my back and neck,
As this bloody carcass of mine meanders through time,
Weaving in and out of reality.
The solid structure up ahead fills my eyes.
A building? Perhaps my sweet relief?
No.......it seems to be my end.
A mound of burnt earth and debris,
Covered with that deceptive green life.
Puddles of blood lay dormant behind me as if they're some form of trail.
I've prayed so much today that my tongue has cemented itself to the roof of my mouth.
Exhaustion has overcome me.
Bringing me down closer to the cast away.
I did nothing to deserve this unworthy punishment.
NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~Sigh~
Yet I will carry on, bright eyed and full of love.
And I will firmly plant this metal cross into this raped earth.
.....
If only my blood could wash away my pain.
That my feet burn from the hot sand.
