I woke up on a train in a foreign land,
I had no idea where I was going.
All the streets looked the same,
The signs were painted black,
So I got out and asked for directions.

You held me in your arms and told me
That my destination was elsewhere,
But convinced me to stay awhile
Here with you.

You fell on top of me and I whispered into your ear,
“I want to crawl inside you,
In an empty forest completely darkened,
Except for the light of the moon pouring over our
Cleansed bodies.”
You knew the town better than I
And took me down a black, black path.

Twisting trees looked at me sympathetically.
I tripped on a branch and you let me fall,
Then fell down with me.
We laid down and as the moonlight drowned our fears,
I screamed, “I can never go back there,
My only escape is into nothingness.”

You squeezed my thighs and told me that love was overrated.

The ghost of our past loves haunted me
In my dreams that night,
Revealing secrets I was trying to hide
From myself.
But the nightmares were so beautiful,
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from you.
You woke me up because you couldn’t sleep,
My screams were too loud.

You told me, “It’s just an illusion,
Nothing to fear and nothing to desire,”
Then stared at me with that look of disgust.
I pulled away the sheets and the lies
And dragged you to a forest
Where dawn was slowly transforming us
Into these newly formed creatures.

We lay motionless in the dirt,
Waiting for something,
Anything to happen.
Something to swoop along and stir our steady vessels.
Some kind of end that we couldn’t even create ourselves.
The silence laid a blanket over top of us and we slept,
We slept.

You found a hollowed out tree and placed me inside
And told me to wait until eternity passed,
In a hollowed out tree,
Is where I will rest.

When I awoke I was in your bed
And you were tossing and turning and sweating in your sleep.
I knew that if I stayed,
I could never go home.
So I dug my fingernails into your shoulder
And bit you harder
And watched you flinch in unconscious confusion;
It left a memory
Or regret,
And then I walked outside.

It was morning, but the moon was still dimly lit.
I followed it into my lover’s arms.

It all means nothing,
I walk from room to room but every mirror looks the same.
I was expecting the unexpected, I guess.

Wow mrs-mojo-risin, that's quite a journey...

I absolutely love the way it opens up:

I woke up on a train in a foreign land,
I had no idea where I was going.
All the streets looked the same,
The signs were painted black,
So I got out and asked for directions.

You held me in your arms and told me

this piece took me clear away from rosebery and landed me somewhere deep in my imagination. returning softly with a smile and a tear. truly beautiful work

Very beautiful. The way you describe everything paints a vivid image in my head. This piece tells a wonderful story and I hope we get to read more.

mmm... i agree with everybody up there^... absolutely love the beginning, and how it becomes more surreal, yet still tangible... i feel like my feet were swept off of the ground and spun into a fantasy romance, then gently placed back down again. breathtaking work!

Shoot, I completely forgot that I had posted this!
Thanks everyone for your comments, I really appreciate it :)
Perhaps I'll post some more another day.
