The ultimate gamer thread, aka 'Geek my Forum'

^ have you seen the trailer for RE5?
looks pretty intense. i mean, it looks like zombie redfern with more trees

Yeah I just watched it then. Apparently this time around it's set in the Middle East, from what I've read but the preview looks like Africa.

So no more run down mansions in creepy forests? Change is as good as a holiday.

Plot

Few details have been released about the game's storyline other than the fact that the setting will have a similar feel to the movie Black Hawk Down. Takeuchi added that the developing team is composed of staff members who worked on the first Resident Evil. Despite the lack of information, he has stated that Resident Evil 5 will be an actual sequel to the Resident Evil series. Before Takeuchi took over, the game's former producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi stated "it's safe to say that Resident Evil 5 will naturally proceed from where Resident Evil 4 left off."

In a July 2007 Famitsu interview, producer Jun Takeuchi revealed the main playable character as Chris Redfield and the game takes place ten years after the events of the original Resident Evil. The story will explore Chris' life during the ten year interval between the two games. During the game's events, he is a member of a group known as BSAA, and sent to investigate an incident in a desert area that serves as the game's setting. Takeuchi also confirmed that a female character from the series will appear in the game, and that she briefly appears in the full version of the E3 trailer.

Seeing as Chris is back this time I'm assuming the female character is either Jill or Claire...

I'm so addicted to the Resident Evil series after buying them all on Gamecube that I will probably buy an XBox 360 just to play Resident Evil 5.

Thankfully it's not scheduled to be released until 2009 so the console will probably be cheaper then.

If you buy a 360 be prepared for it to fuck up. That said it has some great games.

By the time I buy one hopefully those problems will be worked out.

I just read that the chick in Res. Evil 5 could possibly be the kid from Res. Evil 2 and being that in the trailer she is blonde that definitely seems like a reasonable bet.

I have had my 360 for a year and a half now and haven't had a problem with it. I've run it for hours on end on 30-something degree days and it hasn't complained. Guess I got a good one.

Now that I have two days off I am going to get gaming again. I will probably play the Need for Speed Games cuz I don't have a lot of time to invest.

hmm, "Geek My Forum"...

Isn't the word "geek" kinda made redundant by the word "forum"?

I downloaded Episode 1 of the new Sam and Max game and it is fucking awesome. The slight change in voices put me off for a second, but I got used to it quickly and it's just as funny and cool as Hit The Road.
