The truth about opiate potentiators

Just to offer a subjective experience but cimetidine in the amount of 800mg used before PST actually degraded the experience, something just seemed off and the high felt incomplete. This was a surprise as I was expecting potentiation.

Does cimitedine potentiate xanax or valium or grape-juice?

You want to potentiate grape juice? hehe I know what you're saying, unsure about the grape but grapefruit juice should definitely potentiate at least some benzos due to CYP450 and P-Glycoprotein inhibition. CIMETIDINE will DEFINITELY potentiate any benzos and even most opiates! Perhaps even to dangerous levels in intolerant. Tagamet is any junkie's best bud, no doubt. In fact, I believe that even amphetamines are affected, although just any antacid would do for those, just alkalize your GI. How about MDMA though? It is indeed a CYP450 substrate, in fact it is extensively metabolized by that enzyme. So, technically Cimetidine would really potentiate ecstasy unless MDMA is a prodrug of course. Is it? I wish I had known of this in my rollin days! Also, potentiation is technically not what Cimetidine does as potentiation refers to synergism of effects, semantics. Whatever makes the buzz better and longer, right?=D

Grape juice won't work lol. Must be grapefruit.

I believe there is a stickied thread that lists all the CYP inhibitors and all their interactions with many drugs and foods. It's a great reference.

EDIT: Here's the thread: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=191439
And it appears MDMA and amphetamines in general should get some interaction with cimetadine as a relevant CYP inhibitor.

Well, that all depends on what you were actually potentiating with Cimetidine. Heroin or codeine for example would only be weakend by Cimetidine due to their lack of activity in their parent form. I might be wrong about Heroin though. I know that methadone and cimetidine is a widely used combo in the junkie maintainance circle. Oxy and hydro codones are still in question here due to them technically being pro drugs. I know this though, a gram of Cimetidine spread out over my entire trip on codones prolongs them tremendously! Especially hydrocodone, not all at once but perhaps 200mg every 2 hours and such. The peak may be somewhat diminished, very little, perhaps due to the lack of any morphone effects but it's not significant enough to justify not using cimetidine as the high can last TWICE as long but may have a slower onset. Cimetidine and benzos are much easier to deal with, they are pretty much all affected positively by Cimetidine. In fact, If I am to take my regular dose of clonazepam consisting of .5 mg while on 20 mg of Oxycodone and 1000 mg of Cimetidine, I would have to fight hard not to pass out, even a quarter of that .125 mg is sedating! Perhaps some of it is due to the opioids themselves but surely the Cimetidine is what really makes my clonazepam so potent. Definitely do not take a high dose of benzo with Cimetidine until you know how you react to it, start low please. ;)

Anyways you just find tagamet at the store like you'd find some tylenol? I've never noticed it in the aisles.

Yes it is OTC, many stores carry it, but...

Tagamet is any junkie's best bud, no doubt.

...don't think that people running some of the stores don't know that, and refuse to carry it for that reason. I know one store that only carries the most expensive brand of poppy seeds, and then only stocks their shelves with one 30g jar at a time! 8(

Bastards! I know Wal-Mart stocks their own generic Equate Cimetidine for 6 bux for 60 pills, 200 mg each. That's 10 cents per pill. Some buy the brand Tagamet and refuse to buy generic for some reason. I just got generic Loperamide for under 6 dollars for almost 400 pills at the Sam's Club! Almost free. Cimetidine used to be a script only med a few years back. I can never find any opium seeds anywhere locally. I really want to try the poppy tea without having to order, just once to see if I like it. If I do, I'd buy it regularly in quantity. I've heard its very nauseating and not very potent. I totally get off 20-30 mg of Oxycodone, so would the tea be potent enough for me and at what dose (in grams)? I'm assuming the best source is eBay since they are the cheapest and have a seller rating system. If I knew that I can get oxycodone/hydrocodone type of buzz from the tea, I'd buy a lot to save money on shipping and the price. However if I dislike it, that money would simply be wasted. I am pretty much out of opioids at this point with no means of getting more, should I go ahead with the poppy pods in your opinion? Sorry guys, I'm high on Oxy and totally rambled and went off topic! Still please provide some input, I need empirical opinions! Also, should I just go ahead and get some Kratom instead or is it total shit???

Kratom and tagament is apples and oranges. Kratom is an opioid, tagament isnt.

I've never had much luck with kratom, seems pretty hit or miss, ime. Poppy tea (from pods, good seeds are hard to find and not as good imo) is ok, nothing too special, a few cups is mildly sedating, good for diareah, but large quantities can have unpleasant side effects, ime.

lol That's ridiculous. Poppy seeds do tend to be expensive, unless you could find one of those wholesale/organic/ethnic supermarkets. Those tend to have better seeds too, and are more likely not to be washed (unlike McCormick, etc).

Poppy seed tea is pretty much worthless though.

From what I've heard, poppy seeds cannot be washed, as they absorb water to readily and become useless.

The supermarket I spoke of, I know for fact that they only stock the premium brand of poppy seeds priced at $7.99 for 30g, 1 at a time on the rack to prevent them from being misused, they also do not stock Tagamet, and most of the DXM products are kept behind the pharmacy counter and they have little plastic cards in the aisle you can take to the counter where they check your ID. None of this is the law, just store policy, at the Rite Aid in the same plaza, its completely different.

I suspect the supermarket is more concerned with shoplifting than with keeping young 'uns off drugs (although they might claim otherwise). At least in my day, the DXM fanboys tended to boost at least as much cough syrup as they bought -- and I'd imagine the same might hold true of poppy seeds.

As far as Tagamet goes, I can't imagine why they wouldn't stock it -- Tagamet was one of the most prescribed drugs in the world before it became OTC, and lots of people with ulcers and gastric problems use it. I would bet the vast majority of folks buying large quantities of Tagamet are doing so for the on-label reason.

I heard that the big commercial brands get washed. The just don't soak them for too long. If you do soak them, they'll swell up and the water/tea will have that unique poppy seed taste.

Damn it, where's Rachamim?

٭٭ I suspect the supermarket is more concerned with shoplifting than with keeping young 'uns off drugs (although they might claim otherwise). ٭٭

Yes, most definitly, the amount of shoplifting that happens every day in the retail world is simply insane. But don't be so sure.

I'm quoting myself, I just now typed this in another context, in another thread, but I'm sure its not the first time Its seemed like we're all talking about the same thing at once ;)8o

٭٭ People can have some pretty fuked up attitudes about drugs. I rmember this one time I was asked to leave a convenience store for asking if they sold rolling papers. They totally started flipping out, saying they don't service junkies and shit, wouldn't even let me pay for the beer I they had already rang up for me. ٭٭

grapefruit juice works for me, one 8 oz glass 45-60 mins before i take oxycodone. extends the duration of the high and makes it a bit stronger.

I never noticed much of a difference when using cimetidine or grapefruit juice with my meds. I take stuff pretty regularly so that may be the issue, but never noticed any huge difference. Everything else like benadryl, muscle relaxers, etc ruin the opiate high most of the time. Even benzos sometimes makes most opiates/opiods not as good. The only exception to that is I like my benzo's with methadone or bupe.

^^ i take klonopin daily and i dont notice any difference when i drink grapefruit juice and take klonopin... only works with opioids for me. (probably because i dont take them THAT regularly...)

Are you high right now? I wasn't comparing Kratom and Tagamet, where did you even get this? I was asking if Kratom was worth using as an opiate substitute or I should just stick with the poppy pod tea. Kratom is an herb with some opioid alkaloids and Cimetidine is obviously a cytochrome P450 inhibitor, why would anyone ever compare the two? 8(
