A good read...
As for pain meds all of the stories you hear about Mexico are just that. Stories. Narcotics are STRICTLY controlled and almost never dispensed in take home form. They can only be prescribed by an anesthesiologist. A family physician can not, under any circumstance. And then you will play hell finding a pharmacy that has it in stock. Which will be none of them in a small town. Very difficult.
Which is one of many odd and frustrating quirks in Mexican law. Regarding anything, medicine or otherwise.
However, an interesting loophole I noticed is that Tramadol and Temgesic are sold freely over the counter. They can not be neatly classified in the way something like hydrocodone can, for example. And in the chaos that is Mexican law those 2 slipped through the cracks.
The Tramadol is sold freely. The Temgesic is a little trickier but I am a nurse practitioner in private practice here. So, they sell things to me that they might not to other people. Though technically, they can sell it without a receta. The Temgesic is available .3, for injection only, but they also sell syringes freely. No questions, no nothing. Ever.
Benzodiazapines are also available. By prescription and only sold in one or 2 pharmacies per town. Benzo´s are a little expensive here. About $40 for 20 pills, depending on the marca. The brand.
Law is capricious and hit or miss here I suppose, and I have been here long enough and practicing that they know me and have eased up. Plus most people in positions of authority don´t even know the laws they are supposed to be enforcing. It really is a bit of a lawless place.
Government is fractured, complicated, cumbersome and in many instances just plain dumb.
It is a different world my friends.
I strongly concur with the other poster who advises staying away from border towns. And I would like to add tourist hot spots to the list of places to avoid. In real Mexico, the interior, things are different. Try to find a reliable, knowledgeable English speaking source in Mexico. Not easy, but can be done if you pay attention. Sometimes what you are looking for falls right into your lap and you don´t notice it until you pay attention.
I hope this is helpful to someone. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. No subject is off limits and I do not judge. I am here to help in any way possible. Just IM me or email me.
Be careful out there. I wouldn´t put just any pill in my mouth that is sent to you by a dude named Jose working in an online farmacia in Guadalajara. Maybe if an American living in a small town in the interior sent it to me I would. But that´s just me....

I am in Guanajuato. I have lived here for 2 years. Came to escape an abusive marriage. My step-dad is from this town. He is not my biological father, but he is my dad. Mom has been married to him for a million years and he raised us. So, though I am the only white girl in sight, I am the daughter, cousin, grand daughter, aunt and niece to half the people in town. It is fun.
All of this got me to thinking as you can see and I have also written the following....
Feel free to repost anywhere, as many times as you like. Someone needs to be in this business and doing it right.
How do any of you know if any of this is legit? You don´t. And I am willing to bet you that 99% of the LARGE AND ESTABLISHED AND TRUSTED sites on here or any other board are run by one person in an apartment in Frankfurt, Germany or Morelia, Michoacan. Or Columbus, Ohio. There is no pharmacist in another building who talks to a doctor. Fred, and Mary and Susie and Joe are the SAME PERSON. Just playing email and hosting games to get you to part with your money. Not always just to screw you. Some of these drug dealers are highly competent and efficient. It is not unlike any other business on earth. If you give bad service you go oaut of business. That is true for your neighborhood crack dealer and your friendly OP.
Online pharmacies are not a terribly profitable venture. We found that out in the dot.com bust about 10 years ago. Who buys a bottle of aspirin from WalMart.com? Answer, no one. There may be a few legitimate places that cater to the AARP crowd with regular shipments of heart pills and Viagra. But that is the extent of it.
The only people still in the OP business are drug dealers. Really, call a rose a rose people.
Seriously, anyone with half a brain can put a fancy website up. It is a guarantee of exactly nothing. Paid hosting or free sites. It doesn´t matter. This is a profitable business for the people in it and a risky venture for the buyers. NO MATTER WHAT THE WEBSITE SAYS.
I think too much emphasis is put on rating the flashiness or paid or unpaid status of sites. Showing WhoseIt type information is also not terribly helpful because it only shows you what the owner filled in on the application form. My name is Fred Smith, I live at 123 Dumbass Street.
It really is that silly folks. I always see people mentioning that LE trolls these boards. Really? For what exactly? They would spend man hours, and court time and God knows what other valuable resource to stalk and set up some dork in Missouri who is trying to buy codeine in Africa without a prescription? That were it EVER be seen to conclusion would only end up in a plea, a fine and not much else. DOES NOT HAPPEN. Absolute patent nonsense.
Help me out here. Why on earth would you bother with a supplier who has so many problems? If you are going to be in this business, then be in it. All the email tag and guessing and supposing and waiting and wondering would suck the life right out of me.
A better situation would be a reliable English speaking source in another country. Like Mexico. Someone so far out of the reach of the long arm of gringo law that none of that stuff matters.
Where no one can shut down email address´ for questionable activity. Somewhere where hiding behind proxy servers is not required. Somewhere, where the laws are so unorganized, nonsensical and unenforceable as to be non-existent. Somewhere where you could put a billboard on the roof of your building clearly explaining EXACTLY what you are doing and dare someone to come and arrest you. And no one would come because no one gives a shit.
Where would such a place be? Mexico maybe. Somewhere in deepest darkest Mexico where an American lives and works and knows the drill on both sides of the border.
Where the only risk, and it is a very small one, is customs confiscation on your side of the border. Not mine.
But also somewhere in Mexico where you do not have to play receiver games with someone named Juan, or Jose, or Conchita or even Maria. Somewhere with a receiver with an American name. The same one everytime. Wouldn´t that be great? Or, just for fun, a working PayPal account. And a working phone number. That would be nice too.
Where the biggest inconvenience is transit time. A problem that can be avoided with a little planning. And if you think about it, how inconvenient is 10 days or so? Not too bad really...
A place with an American that everyone likes and trusts and would never suspect, or even care if they did, of malfeasance of any sort.
Earning a living is a constitutional right in Mexico. Even for a resident alien. As long as you don´t kill anyone or steal anything, NO ONE gives a shit what you do for a living. And I mean NO ONE.
A place where the receiver walks to the WU office or the ATM for a PayPal withdrawal with her dog named Buddy. That dog should be a Golden Retriever who loves tortillas and a local celebrity, that also helps.
From the point of receiving payment that person should walk through the town garden, with Buddy, to a farmacia. That might take 15 minutes or so because you do have to stop and talk to friends and neighbors along the way. Mexicans are a very social people.
Then, ideally the post office should be about another 5 minutes away and be staffed by a guy named Guillermo. A guy named Guillermo that loves dogs and pretty blond gringas who smile at him.
Where on earth would such a place be I wonder? Happy hunting, and always remember, you do NOT need a license to hunt in Mexico...

Hey I'm new to bluelight and I am
having a hard time sending a private message. It says I don't have the authority to send a private message until I post some 50 posts or something. Anyways, I'm interested in talking to "TemgesicMX" and hopefully getting some more information. I am desperate to find something and really don't want to get screwed again. Any info you can give me would be great. Or, if there is a way we can talk...Thanks!

Used to be in a lot of places in europe too before they realised what a problem they had with people addicted to bupe. Ive talked to lots of people from Europe who remember when temgisic was legal to buy over the counter. It was the same as buying a bottle of Tylenol with codeine over the counter like we still do today(at least where I am codeine is sold at every pharmacy with no questions asked)
