I follow the sprites trail
languidly drawing night across myself.
Laughter in the eaves of the forest
and the soft patter of feet.

The terrain shifts harsh
and the sirens sing me on.
My legs are chafed
and I step outside myself.

Her smile and a tear pull me
the terrain shifts lethal,
I'm lacerated but focused,
true.

I step to the clearing with my arms wide,
with my eyes closed I feel her waiting...
enigma, she slipped through,
I hear footsteps in the eaves of the forest...

I turn to chase,
always running to overtake
and bring it back

Is this your first post? If so welcome to words! Good write, theres a feeling of malice, of something not right that comes through in this, especially in the desciptions of the forest.

Thanks :) I had visions of Fangorn and Mirkwood from Tolkiens books...I don't know if you're that into Jung, but I've always been fond of using a dark forest as a means to represent The Shadow...thanks for the comment...I'll be sure to post others... :)

nature poems which pull a sense of feeling always seem to me so more poetic... this one included good work !

I really like this, and for me it does evoke the shadow. There's some nicely nuanced phrasing too, such as "languidly drawing night across myself".

I'd love to read more of your work, Charos!

I've got a few of them at my Deviantart page if you're interested...I've gotta add a few more, I've got a lot, I just didn't want to submit them all in one big blob of posts... :)
