sometimes i think that the sun
is going to make it's merry way
across the solar system
and push it's way through the mantle
and into the core of Earth.

sometimes i think that the sun
is going to get tired of it's job
of illuminating the entire solar system
and will just say fuck it
and explode.

sometimes i think that the sun
is just a glowing piece of yellow
construction paper carefully
positioned in the sky
to give us hope and make
us think we have warmth.

sometimes i think that the sun
is way too bright for my eyes
and i want it to go away and
other times i'm glad it's there
to put natural highlights in my hair.

sometimes i think that
i shouldn't really be thinking about the sun
it's just there

but, really, you never know when
it won't be.

I love the first two stanzas... they're offbeat and make me smile.

This bit made me laugh out loud! I pictured the sun sitting there after another hard day thinking, fuck it, let's see if these ungrateful planets can get by on their own. Priceless. I love the flippant nature of the poem.

I find a lot of parallels in life within your words, this being the part to stand out the most... kind of makes me want to appreciate things a lot more, and not take so much for granted. Good piece!
