⭐️ Social ⭐️ The Stimulant Social Parlor. A place to talk about nearly anything. If you don't break forum and site rules, I'll allow it! Potential triggers inside!

Thanks for posting this. I'm so glad you did. Because I'm at a bit of crossroads myself (and was about to post about it somewhere else around these parts).

Where does Dextroamphetamine fit into all of this (in reference to your last sentence)?
Imo, dextroamphetamine is the prototypical stimulant against which all other stimulants should be compared. It does it's job and gets you going, without being as compulsive or abusable. I mean, I'm not in the UK, so I don't have any experience with the powdered amphetamine that goes around there. So, it could possibly be a little more compulsive than just having regular pills.

Maybe it's just me, but the first time I took a Dexedrine as a teenager was like stumbling upon the perfect magic potion. I felt so good, I wanted to talk about things, I was finally happy. I believe I had taken Adderall a couple times before, but it felt too light and not as perfectly directed as straight dextroamphetamine.

I have been prescribed Adderall before, and currently I'm taking Vyvanse. I much prefer the Vyvanse, as it just slowly metabolizes into dextroamphetamine throughout the day. The Adderall IR pills I used to take were a little too up + down, but Vyvanse seems to plateau and just stay there until I want to sleep. It doesn't keep me up really, or cause any anxiety or insomnia. I can't say the same for Adderall IR, it definitely caused me some anxiety when I was taking it.

I have personally never "abused" my ADHD medication at any point, but I mean I have snorted some crushed up amphetamine pills with friends and stuff at times, but that was never really my game.

Dextroamphetamine is like life essence for me, lol I am flat, bored, lazy, and dull without it. It truly is a life saver, since discovering it as a teenager, I haven't let it go. Maybe I'm addicted or dependent or whatever, but I couldn't tell you any negative side effects or anything, because there are none for me. Once your body adjusts to it, it just does it's job, flawlessly.

I like meth.

I disagree with you, @deficiT.
I mean, yeah I fucking like it too lol. It's great, like just imagining some of my good times with meth, I had so much fun after taking bumps, and it just pushed my energy through the ceiling and I exploded with manic energy.

I mean, I won't say that it's totally useless or anything. If someone really did use "low dose" meth, I mean maybe they'd find some use with it. I just think ice is incredibly abusable due to just how good it is. It just lasts waayyyyyyyy too long imo, and when you start smoking or injecting it, it takes on a totally different character.

To me, smoking it has like an almost sedating kinda rush, almost similar to good powder or rock cocaine. Injecting it is just instant bliss, but it so easily spirals out of control, especially if you have compulsion issues.

Your mileage always varies of course.

Dextroamphetamine might not be perfect for everybody, and meth might not be ruinous for everybody.

But for me, they both very much are.

Hey thanks. After some very careful introspection I just posted the post that I was getting to on this topic.

Only thing we have here (South Africa) is something called "Concerta" (supposedly a Ritalin equivalent/replacement). But it costs a fucking small fortune relatively speaking when compared to Crystal. Although pretty sure there's black market Ritalin floating about (there must be because there was some fucking huge uproar not too long ago about an "epidemic" of students at Uni. scoring and using this shit to study with).

Oh ok, I see. Yeah concerta is basically just extended release methylphenidate.

I have taken Ritalin and concerta only a couple times. I have a lot more experience with 4f-methylphenidate, a Ritalin based research chemical.

Methylphenidate is alright but imo is kinda similar to cocaine, with all of the accompanying jitteriness and anxiety. To me it's too uppity to be a useful functional stimulant, but I've never really been prescribed it and took it regularly, so I can only have so much of an opinion.

I definitely abused the 4f-mph a bit, and used it through work when I was servicing home security systems. It served it's purpose, but I definitely looked forward to every bump though so it was kinda compulsive and induced a bit of paranoia.

One delusion I had when I was doing meth was that a few of my friends were FBI agents, one of them in particular was assigned to basically watch me, and push me into certain situations. They could listen to me through my phone, but when I turned it off it severed the link. At one point they basically gave me an assignment to go meet up with someone on a back road a couple towns away. The friend that was assigned to me told me to get a burner phone, so that only he could listen to me, because there was some kind of conflict with the other agents. I drove over the mountain about 30 minutes away, went to Walmart to buy a burner phone, and drove down the back road where I was supposed to go and parked my car. Some other guy actually stopped at a little spot on the road, and I actually started to approach him. For whatever reason I thought better of it and turned back around and drove home. At this point I was desperately trying to tell myself that it was all a delusion, but I had done so much to get to that point so I just didn't want to see the truth.

I also thought my neighbors had hacked my WiFi, and knew all of my illicit and semi licit internet activities. I heard them talking about it through the walls for days on end. At one point I even went to knock on my neighbors door at like 6 in the morning to confront him about it. Thank God he didn't answer.

The fbi agent delusion actually followed me to work the next day after I had started to sober up a bit. I was working at an Amazon data center at the time, where I had to leave my phone in a secure locker to go into the red zone with all of the servers. This time when I was in the red zone was the only time that no one was talking to me through my phone, so it felt really good. It was crazy to me that the voices actually stopped when I got away from my phone.

Meth has caused me so many complete delusions, it's difficult for me to think about because I'm just so ashamed of how crazy I got. The shit will literally drive the best of us completely insane. If you have an active imagination or are fairly intelligent, it is literally poison for your brain.

If you aren't taking meth anymore and you're still believing all of this shit, you should definitely consider taking some antipsychotic medication. That has been really the only thing that has helped me get over some of the paranoia I was infested with.

Meth is fucking dumb. My worst meth binges ended with a complete breakdown and total detachment from reality, in which the ONLY option I possibly had, was to end everything. And I tried. Woke up in the hospital, and jail, many times after suicide attempts, arrests, and other mental breakdowns.

Amphetamine is infinitely useful, but methamphetamine literally redlines your brain. It is dangerous, and you shouldn't be pushing for it to be viewed as anything other than a dangerous chemical.
I remember one time, I thought the CIA was after me and had spoofed my friends Instagram Accounts and bugged my Phone 6-ways-from-Sunday, right? So I was sitting on the toilet at 5:00am grunting out a shit, and low-and-behold one of the accounts pop's up and says "Who's that!?"

God, I was so delusional, I was so lost, oh that devil Meth. I actually thought the CIA had bugged my phone and were listening to me take a shit! I actually thought the CIA had hi-jacked my friends Instagram accounts and were talking to me. God, that devil Meth, what's it's done to my Brain!

Oh wait, all that actually happened:

I've never smoked it, I've never shot it, I've snorted it a handful of times.

If you're going to use Meth it should be ingested in tiny doses:

Also, you really shouldn't use Meth unless you're using the Prescription Stuff. That's the good shit. That's the real-deal. It's 10x safer, as it's been bio-engineered:

So what exactly is the effect of first-pass metabolism on methamphetamine? It doesn't make the drug stronger like THC, does it?

I'm curious, since my use is split roughly 50/50 between oral and nasal (dissolved in water as a spray). On the last biannual survey at my local needle exchange, the question about ROA for meth only had "injected" and "smoked" as the possible answers to bubble in. So I guess even snorting, which used to be pretty common, has become a rarity.

Lots of substances go through first pass metabolism @JTemperance. LOTS.
Does it have the same effect on every substance, though?

Rereading that little Wikipedia blurb, I guess it's saying that most substances are weakened, while only a few (like THC) are strengthened. If @acklac7 meant that meth was better if taken orally because first-pass metabolism lessens the intensity, then I guess it makes sense to me. But the bolded and underlined part is talking about the opposite effect, so I'm still not sure....

It doesn't have the same effect of every substance, no. It varies depending on a lot of things chemically.

Yeah, the bolded/underline part can be confusing. It does lessen the intensity with Meth, but as @VerbalTruist said it depends on a lot of things chemically.

Also, our bodies were desigined to ingest substances, right? Like we have hundreds of thousands of years of evolution aimed at ingesting substances. That's how are bodies are built. We're not supposed to smoke/snort/shoot medication, our bodies haven't neccesarly evolved to do so.

Fair enough, well said, and true that.

He needed to stop for a bit. I hope he goes outside for some air or sees these friends and family who definitely want to help him out.
@Electrum1 maybe?
