If you stay with me a while, you will learn that shallow-seeming waters can run deep. Even so, the most shallow cavepond bears life older than all your good intentions combined, and it was content to breed and die there alone until you interfered.
There is no daylight underground, and you've never really known true darkness. In the complete absence of light, your eyes are useless...and when your eyes are useless, all that's left is to feel.
There's a steep drop once you reach that final cliff, but I have more than enough rope to hang us both so I'll let you down gently. Just make sure you have the resources to find your own way back because I won't be of any help.
And if you find yourself alone and cold and damp in the hollows of some great cavern, it doesn't mean I love you any less. It's just that some things are set in stone and they are bigger than both of us.
