This works for all 3 of the main NSAID OTC codeine products, which you can buy without a prescription in Canada, and I'm sure other countries.
So this works for:
8mg Codeine/ 15mg Caffeine / 325-375mg Acetaminophen
8mg Codeine/ 15mg Caffeine / 325-375mg Aspirin
8mg Codeine/ 15mg Caffeine / 325-375mg Ibuprofen
Basically, anyone with an opiate tolerance that isn't completely naive will generally require a reasonable amount of codeine to get a nice buzz. Unforuntately, in Canada, OTC codeine products are required to have 2 other active drugs. I think their is 1 brand that has a anti-histamine instead of caffeine, but they are pretty useless because you can't extract the anti-histamine ingrediant, and it has awful side effects in high doses. However, all the other OTC codeine formulations have an NSAID, and caffeine. With only 8mgs of codeine per pill, and 15mgs of caffeine per pill, it is very difficult to get an enjoyable buzz from the codeine when you perform a CWE on anymore than 10 pills which is only 80mgs of codeine, along with 150mgs of caffeine which is like a strong coffee and it will ruin the sedative buzz.
Now whenever I feel like a quick enjoyable high, I buy a 200 pack of the generic 8mg Codeine/ 15mg Caffeine / 325-375mg Aspirin pills, choosing aspirin because it is much easier to perform a CWE on, as it doesn't clog up my coffee filters like acetaminophen does.
And for me to get a buzz that is even worth my time, I need about 400mgs and I don't even have much of an opiate tolerance. And thus, my problem is the 750mgs of caffeine I would have to consume along with that 400mgs of codeine, so my buzz is completely ruined by a ridiculous dose of caffeine.
That is when I decided to check out some solubility rates, and realized codeine is incredibly soluble in cold water, where as caffeine is much less soluble. Only 600mgs of caffeine can dissolve in 100mls of 0 degree celcius water, and only 1g can dissolve at 15 degree celcius water.
So what you might be asking, it's not like I can dissolve 100 pills in 10mls of water so I only end up with 60-100mgs of caffeine with my codeine. Or can I?
Well no, you can't dissolve that many pills in 10mls of water but I've figured out an alternative solution.
1)I like to perform a big CWE at once, so I can have a few doses ready. First I take 100 of my codeine pills, and grind them up into a nice powder.
2)Get 1.5mls of ice water per each pill you use, you can simply just fill a cup with ice cubes and some water, stir it until the water is nice and cold, and then add the cold water to your grind-ed codeine pills. Shake them up in an enclosed container for a minute until the solution has wet all the pill matter and made it turn into a consistency that looks like milk.
3)Dampened 4 or 5 coffee filters with cold water, and then pour the solution from above into the filters. Let it strain through for a bit, and then as long as your careful you can use some extra force to press the solution through slowly. It will come out as clear as water, just don't press to hard or you can make a hole in the filter, and then you will have to do it again.
4)Now, here is where the caffeine removal technique comes in. You will have 150mls of codeine/caffeine saturated water, which you then should put in a pot, and evaporate it on the stove. You can bring it to a light light boil, it is a common myth that codeine is destroyed at the temperature of lightly boiling water. It is actually quite stable in boiling water, just so long as you don't boil it for like 24 hours lol. 150mls usually take only 30 minutes to evaporate down to 10-15mls.

5)Right when the liquid has almost all been evaporated in the pot and there is only 10-15mls left, quickly stop the evaporation by dipping the pot into an ice bath, or just another bigger bowl filled with cold water.
6) Pour your 10mls of liquid that you have boiled down (you generally will learn after a few tries, when to stop boiling because you can tell their is only 10-15mls left) into a small cup, or a shot glass. This liquid is now supersaturated with caffeine, where as the codeine is perfectly soluble. Simply place it into the fridge and allow it to cool. Once it cools the caffeine will begin to slowly recrystallize, which sometimes can take a few hours to occur. Once it starts though, all the caffeine will rather quickly precipitate out. I save the caffeine I extracted from my previous extraction so that I can just add about 25mgs of it too my current extraction once it has cooled, and that jump starts the crystallizing process and this way the caffeine immediately begins to precipitate out and is generally all precipitated out within half an hour.
Here are some pictures of my boiled down supersaturated codeine solution as the caffeine begins to precipitate, it was COMPLETELY clear when I put it into the fridge. Sometimes it is a light brown, that's fine. Their is 800mgs of codeine in there.

And finally, so much caffeine will have preciptated, it will just become a solid slushie of caffeine crystals:
If you want to get out ALL the caffeine, you can filter the current caffeine slurry out, and then continue letting the again liquid codeine sit in the fridge, but I find almost nothing else precipitates out the second time, so it is ready to go after you now perform a second filter with just a small piece of a coffer filter, as the now solid again caffeine will remain in the filter, and the clear liquid that you finally end up with is almost 800mgs of pure codeine.

And this is just a picture of the caffeine filtrate after I took it from the filter, spread it out and let it completely dry.

What I do with this is scrape it off after it dries, and I can weigh it to see how much caffeine I eliminated + I save it so I can use about 25mgs to jump start the caffeine precipitating the next time I do a CWE.
And my final 10ml of clear codeine solution has approximately 70-80mgs of codeine per ML (because I used 100 pills, their is a total of 700-800mg of codeine in that final 10mls, 700mgs is accounting for losses during the CWE process), with no more than 6-20mgs of caffeine per ML depending how patient you are with allowing the caffeine to precipitate out.
