A former Chinese teacher who quit his job and started making crystal meth at home has been arrested in southern China.

The police seized a total of 70 lbs of meth, 408 lbs of toxic chemicals as well as an extensive range of production tools at his flat in the city of Nanning, Guangxi province, on September 28, reported People's Daily Online.

The suspect, only identified by his surname Lu, left his job in 2012 and became addicted to drugs. He began making meth from early 2015 to support his addiction.

His sophisticated meth production only came to light after the arrest of three drug dealers in March this year in Hechi city - about 170 miles away from Lu's flat.

In addition to the testimonies by the three apprehended dealers, the police found that most of the confiscated drugs in their province came from the same source, which was Mr. Lu.

However, the investigation was made difficult because all transactions were done through Tencent QQ, a Chinese online instant messaging platform.

Fortunately, through tracing original posts between the former teacher and the drug dealers, the police tracked down Lu's home address and dispatched a task force to follow Lu's every move.

On September 28th, after six months of extensive investigation, police broke into Lu's apartment and arrested the 35-year-old man.

One of the officers in the task force told People's Daily: 'It was a shocking scene! The apartment had the most extensive utensils and raw materials for meth production I have seen in my career.'

Chemicals, test tubes and other equipment, including a high pressure cooker filled his three-bedroom flat, which was approximately 1,300 square feet.

Lu told the police: 'I have been producing meth here for months but my neighbours had no idea what I was doing.'

According to Guangxi police authorities, Lu's arrest also led to a crackdown of a massive inter-provincial drug trafficking network.

The case is under further investigation.

Really wonder how he slept in that apartment with all the fumes floating around?

haha, those Chinese toilets :P

Seriously tho, when there is large profits to be made someone will always be there try and make the money no matter what the risk.

The governments of the world should be doing this not any old guy and his dog (or toilet).

Nothing like hanging a shit and cooking up a batch of meth to snort for the day.

Can just imagine it, a mate calls and they ask 'what are you doing?' and the other person goes 'oh nothing just hanging a shit and cooking up a batch, pretty average day'.

Oh dear. Addiction isn't the best motivation to become a chemist, but it isn't the worst either. At least I think he'll have consumed his own stuff, so he just sold what he took by himself... that's a difference to many RC cooks.

His life will be over :/

so that's a major drug ring bust, huh? What about the dudes making kilos in China? Or do they pay their taxes?

70lbs is around 30 kilos or something that is alot of meth. I wonder if they have some sort of bulk synthesis. I've always read the stuff over there is the bomb.
