When you test a pill with the EZ Test Xtreme, if step 1 (the marquis reaction) turns purple/black instantly, that would mean there is a LOT of MD*A like substance right?
That opposed to it taking 5-10 seconds to turn.

in a word, NO.
if you are testing a pure sample of MDMA powder then you will probably see a very fast, almost instantaneous reaction.
Unfortunately most people aren't testing a "pure" powder. They are tesing a scraping from a pill and pills have a lot more in them than the active substance (ie MDMA). It is the binders and fillers that make up the bulk of the pill that will affect the reaction time.
We've seen it time and time again that two pills will be tested, and one will give a fast reaction and one will give a slow-ish reaction. The first one will be strong, but the second will also be strong, if not stronger.

^ while I agree with what you said.
It has been my experience that with potent pills more of the tester drop goes black, (the whole drop thing inks up).
Whereas, the weakest pill of my life left only a small trail of ink coming up from the scrapings.
While pill testers aren't quantitive, I still like to see my drop go all black really quickly.
My friend has actually predicted a pill was weak just from the amount of bitterness from the taste - that came in handy because after he tasted it and told me I went and dropped another chaser straight away, so we wouldn't be messing around!

There are many many factors which influence a test result. How much of the pill you use, which part of the pill you use (eg, a grey speckle vs an no speckled part of a speckled pill), the consistancy and chemical make up of the binders, the temperature of the testing reagent, the age and freshness of the reagent etc.
You can say in a general sense that strong result = a lot of MDMA. It really is in an overal general sense and you can not make any hard and fast rule about it, there are just too many variables to consider.

in ibiza, the fastest reaction ive ever seen was from a red no logo pill. wasnt much of a high, made my gf very horny though!
so i take it that it isnt an indication.
/me really ewants to see a green reaction along with purple/black again
