The presence of roaches in my home is worsening my addiction

Alright well then let me know how the DE works out for you
In my particular case it worked 100%. I used filter grade DE because that's what I had on hand (from salt water aquarium filters) but I strongly recommend the use of food grade DE because it is less friable and therefore causes less health concerns for humans and pets.

It's success relies on proper preparation and application but when properly used was as effective as the Ortho Malathion I had used in the 1980's but far, far safer.

When I miss and they hide somewhere (and they hide well), I lose sleep just thinking it might come back to scare the shit outta me once I get comfortable.
It’s if they are watching our every step. The second your attention is diverted the no good stinking cockroach will bolt with those antennas that creep me out at such a degree I gotta believe something much more sinister is going on.

Yea so there's a major problem since they were there before you moved in... They're very established...

I wouldn't delay in calling the Orkin man... You pretty much have no choice

I haven't seen any roaches in the house recently (maybe week or so). Either our preventative measures worked or they're just hiding better. I'm by no means convinced that they're all gone though. I'm sure they can be good at making themselves seem scarce.

Gross. Just gross dude. I hate everything there is to hate about them. Absolutely disgusting! Yuck! No thank you…I’ll pass. Seattle is blessed to have 80% less bugs overall compared to Florida….fuck Florida… lol….fuck those nasty ass roaches! 🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳🪳

I don't like them but I admire their toughness. They have such persistence in the face of adversity. If humans manage to annihilate each other in some idiotic nuclear war, the cockroaches will still be there to snigger at the presumption and stupidity of our supposedly superior species. We humans like to think 'superiority' in evolutionary terms is measured in intelligence. It isn't. It's measured in capacity for survival.

They really are the scourges of the earth

I once heard a joke that at the end of the world, all that will be left are cockroaches and Mick Jagger. XD

Just eat them in revenge then. They are in fact edible. Fried or roasted they taste like fatty chicken thigh.
Nope. Hard pass. Haha. Even if they taste good, it would still be hard to ignore how gross they look. I'm sure the texture would bother me too with their creepy little legs and all. Oddly enough, I'd be more open to trying fried worms or grasshoppers. I heard grasshoppers taste kinda meaty and nutty. Someone once told me they taste a lot like sunflower seeds.

Noooo, do not eat the bugs!

They have Chitin (a polymer) which causes inflammatory immune system responses when consumed by humans
Good to know. A lot of people are encouraging eating insects nowadays and important info like that should be known before anyone considers eating them. I for one could go my whole life without adding eating bugs to my fuck it list though. Haha.

Thing is, I'm a neat freak. I do laundry a few times a week and I deep clean on a weekly basis, so this is driving me insane. I live in the Texoma area and I'm hoping it's just the warm, humidity/rainy season that's bringing them in and nothing that I'm falling short on, because I've been keeping our new place clear of food waste and always clean up after myself (and my fiance). It's really fucking with my head and my willpower to resist taking more oxy, but after the sight of a cockroach I know that unless I want to lose sleep over it, it's my only option. People might say it's just an excuse to take more, but the thing is--I just want to be at peace so I can sleep through the cockroach anxiety. I have no idea why, but I'm terrified of bugs. I've tried fly swatters, Raid, and putting the AC on full-blast (not to mention I keep the house squeaky clean). I guess the next step is an exterminator, but I worry that it will be a waste of time and money. After all, I live on the outskirts of town where they thrive, so my guess is they aren't going anywhere. What's scary is I read somewhere that not 1 house in the world is 100% bug-free. Fucking yikes. I guess my question is: Can anyone relate or am I freaking out over nothing? Also, what the fuck do I do to handle this better? I don't wanna have to keep dipping into my stash every time I see one. This shit is expensive enough as it is.
Have you tried traps or bait? Gels work too They take the bait to their nest and eat it. Thus killing them all. Put the bait where you see them most or all the corners of your house.
