The presence of roaches in my home is worsening my addiction

Thing is, I'm a neat freak. I do laundry a few times a week and I deep clean on a weekly basis, so this is driving me insane. I live in the Texoma area and I'm hoping it's just the warm, humidity/rainy season that's bringing them in and nothing that I'm falling short on, because I've been keeping our new place clear of food waste and always clean up after myself (and my fiance). It's really fucking with my head and my willpower to resist taking more oxy, but after the sight of a cockroach I know that unless I want to lose sleep over it, it's my only option. People might say it's just an excuse to take more, but the thing is--I just want to be at peace so I can sleep through the cockroach anxiety. I have no idea why, but I'm terrified of bugs. I've tried fly swatters, Raid, and putting the AC on full-blast (not to mention I keep the house squeaky clean). I guess the next step is an exterminator, but I worry that it will be a waste of time and money. After all, I live on the outskirts of town where they thrive, so my guess is they aren't going anywhere. What's scary is I read somewhere that not 1 house in the world is 100% bug-free. Fucking yikes. I guess my question is: Can anyone relate or am I freaking out over nothing? Also, what the fuck do I do to handle this better? I don't wanna have to keep dipping into my stash every time I see one. This shit is expensive enough as it is.

Are you sure it was a cockroach and not something like a water bug that looks similar to a cockroach but doesn't breed as fast? I sometimes get a water bug after it rains but it's not an infestation like cockroaches are

You're right. In Texoma? She's got water bugs, not city bugs. They're harmless. Actually they're cool.

No, your next step is a chemical called DE (diatomaceous earth).

Yea no home will ever be bug free. That said, roaches would bother me too. Bugs are bugs, roaches are just nasty.

How long have you lived there?

I've lived in the area my whole life, but I just recently moved to the outskirts of town in late February/early March. It's out of the city limits. They didn't start coming out til late May.

I've seen those too, but no, the ones that have been making regular appearances are the little oval brown ones. They can fly too. It sucks. The people who lived here before us didn't mention a roach problem, but for that matter, they also didn't mention the issues with the water heater or the plumbing.

Tree roaches!

I watched a native slam a 5 inch dictionary down on one
and it crawled out from under it a couple minutes later
Nah... They're Palmetto bugs. They battle it out with the rival locusts gangs for control of turf down here. They're all just biding their time to till they can crawl out of the apocalyptic rubble of our world. What better place to prepare for Armageddon but Florida.
