I forgot how stimulating tramadol is. As soon as it wore off I totally crashed. I didn't sleep last night and then was dead to the world for almost 3 hrs today.

Edit: It also gives me a weird taste in my mouth. Anyone else experience this??

10mg? not 20?! Even worse.

I am in literally excruciating pain right now, its really hurting to breathe.

I have taken three different muscle relaxers today, tizanidine methocarbamol and carisoprodol. I'm literally getting so desperate I may take some cyclobenzaprine too, flexeril sucks.

aaaaaaaaah, spasms.

They started on 10 and upped it to a whopping 20 evidently.

I'm sorry Tri. Take what you have. I've mixed those with no problems. Sounds like you need to dip into your opiates and take another soma.

What! Thats kinda ridiculous to be started at 10....When I started with my PM I was walking in with 120mgs of Oxy daily(all IR from my PCP)...They started me out on 20mg of Opana, then I complained it wasn't that cutting it, so my PM dr went "awww your on the baby dose, lets go to 30mg"...I just laughed.

Tri, sorry to hear about your pain right now. We all have those days/nights, hopefully you get a good nights sleep and awake in the morning feeling better.

Very ridiculous and quite painful I'm sure. I'm on 120mg of oxy currently. 80mg ER & 40mg BT. Pm dr offered to bump it up (120 ER + 40 BT) bc I'm really struggling. But with my age, and the fact that I'm going to be on em forever, there's not much room before I'm maxed and totally tolerant. My BT meds are an issue for me. I get 4 10/325s daily. I'm already concerned about the long term pill use on my liver, and my percs contain acetaminophen that I certainly don't need. Do you guys have pure BT meds or APAP?

Im guessing your young since you said age is a problem. Im 23, so I'm shocked im getting treatment I am, I searched 4-5 months to find a PM dr. With the 120mg Of OxyER for your conversion you should get 30mg Of Opana every 12 hours, 60mg daily, and then BT meds. Not sure where you live but can you not get pure Oxycodone Instant release? In the U.S we have Roxicodone (Oxycodone) which comes in 5,10,15,20,30mg. If you can get pure Oxycodone I would suggest going with a 15mg BT along with the Opana. And if you can I would HIGHLY suggest the generic Opana, as the reformulation suck. Its 15mg and made my Actavis, if you could get 60mg of Opana a day, the generic would be perfect, 15x2=30mg.

Im currently Rx'ed 60mg of Opana a day, but I'm getting the generic version, so Im taking 2 15mg pills every 12 hours. Along with my BT meds of 30mg Oxy IR 4x, no APAP.

I have never found a double-down on a singular opiate very successful with my pain. In this case, its just oxy times oxy which to me is bizarrely ineffective. I think Oxy for B/T is ok for pain, I take it as a BT med every 4 hours (30mg every 4). If my ER meds were oxycontin, I don't think the analgesia gets better you just are more fucked up. Being on either fentanyl or methadone in the last 6 months (involving 2 back surgeries) I have found methadone to be a fantastic medication for specifically nerve pain but even overall, working quite synergistically even though my healing has been slow and high level pain lingers.

And definitely don't need the APAP taxing your liver everyday. I always ask doctors that write a 10-325 percocet script to write me for straight oxycodone and they all complied like they never considered writing in minus the tylenol. One doctor told me tylenol works well synergistically opioids in short term use. Again, I flinched considering I would've ended up being on meds for months on end WITH tylenol?

On a personal note, I see the addition of Hydrocodone to schedule II status to perhaps doing away with combination opiates using acetaminophen.

Thank you all, unfortunately I've been going to bed with this pain and waking up with it for the past four days or so, my hopes are not high for tomorrow.

I've taken so many drugs today, I'm just so thankful to have them because I would have been so screwed today if I didn't.

I called in my oxy refill today, maybe this month they won't forget to give me 120 pills instead of just 100, like they did the past two months..... -_______-

You guys rock though, this thread is like, the first (and last) one I go to when I come on BL.

I really do hope you get to feeling better soon. I hate hearing about people hurting. Your an awesome person I hate hearing that your suffering so much. I wish I could take everyone's pain and suffering away.

I will keep you Tricomb and Domed2pain in my prayers along with all the Cp sufferers on the board. I hope everyone finds relief soon.

Haze- Yes I am young. Well, 28, if that qualifies me. My Opana comment was in response to a question asked but I did take Opana for a year until they switched the formula on me. I am in the US and my doc didn't even mention a generic..Interesting... I'll have to ask.

B.D.- I don't even get the bonus of getting fucked up. Aside from being on percs for yrs, I never did get euphoria from it. I'm actually irritable and bitchy. It really isn't effective in managing my pain, but I just switched from Opana to OxyContin for my ER a couple months ago. so I was trying to give it a chance. Ive always taken percs but my ER meds have changed a lot. So you suggest mixing a couple opiates rather than all oxy? I will also try asking for it w/o tylenol. I didnt before bc we all know how the PM thing goes... its always tricky asking for specific drugs. I'm one of their youngest patients so they hesitate when you start getting demanding in the opiate dept.

The Generics only come in 7.5 and 15mg. All your Dr has to do is write for Opana 15mg, the Pharmacy will automatically give you the Generic Actavis since Endo/Opana does not make that strength. If you could get 30mg Opana those generic 15's would be perfect for you. Like I said that what Im on now, and its huge difference when comparing them to the reforumulation.

I would defiantly advise getting on the Pure Oxycodone, long term APAP does your liver no good.

I really hate how us young people get treated when it comes to pain management, all these doctors have their heads up their asses.

How much Percocet are you taking per day? I get very irritable when I'm coming off mine.

I take 4 of the 10/325 percs a day in addition to the OxyContin.

Haze- Agreed on the treatment. My actual Dr is cool but the nurse I see next week is a hag from hell. I'll have to wait til I see my actual Dr to request it :(

I feel your pain Tri. Still tapering my dose til next week. Almost there! If only I could sleep more than 3-4 hrs a night :( Oh well...

Look, I am 27 so we are all in the same boat here. What I was going for, Sams, is what I do: I sort of play somewhat dumb with my PM Doc about my knowledge of pain meds (excessive knowledge=suspicion in my mind) but do some reading and ask questions about "would A be be better than B, I was reading up on my medications". That lets the doctor know you are interested in your healthcare without coming across as a PhD in pharmacology (I do that with my internist, usually regarding non-scheduled meds....BORING!)

My man Tri knows what I think of his health care, I truly wish him well with dealing with HMO Pain Management. I am blessed to have PPO insurance, I sometimes think the fact of our insurance (or lack thereof) has a big hand in how we feel day-to-day.

feeling a bit better, I have some muscle relaxers waiting for me at the pharmacy but I don't want to drive to pick them up -_____-

So yeah I'm just laying low today.

omg I just had some ultrasound on my wrist after being in horrible crying pain and it took it down from a 8 to a 4 or 5. amazing, I love treatments that aren't opiates!

speaking of which, my PM doctor wants to taper me off my DHC & tramadol but I sooo dont want too, what I actually need is a slight increase...I dont know what to do....Im scared, I just want to stay on my current regimen with some better breakthru pain meds. ugh.
