The Orange Juice MYTH!!

ive drank oj on a hard roll... i will give my .02...

i agree... it does NOT make the roll better... however there is a sugar rush i guess you could call it? you can feel it a few seconds after drinking the oj... feels good... but it does not increase the rolling effect...

try oranges instead... they are a fricken blast to eat when rolling... you can feel all the little pods in the orange explode and it makes you drool buckets cause it TASTES SO GOOD. clemetines are good too :)
 
well, orange juice is a nice alternative to water when rolling. thats about it. i love it the day after though.

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant. It is believed that MDMA is neurotoxic due to oxidized free radicals. As such Vitamin C counteracts these free radicals and helps to minimize damage incurred.

Now, I believe that Vitamin C [which is found in OJ] is an element that helps you protect your body.

The following elements enhance the experience rather than protect you from anything specific:

1] L-Tyrosine - 500-1500mg
Think of dopamine as engine oil. When the car runs out of gas (serotonin), it starts using up engine oil in its place, which is very hard on the engine, and can lead to permanent damage. L-Tyrosine is to dopamine what 5-HTP is to serotonin. It is its precursor. Dopamine provides the rushy, body buzz, speedy effects. Increasing L-tyrosine levels enhances these sensations.

2] DLPA - 500-1500mg
DLPA amongst other functions, helps to prolong the duration of action of pleasure inducing neurochemicals.

3] L-Glutamine - 2-5 grams
L-Glutamine is a precursor to neurotransmitters in the brain. It also imparts a protective effect on the brain but not as heavily as 5-HTP or Vitamin C.

I was always told not to drink orange juice while rolling because of the niacin in it, and the chance it will dull your roll and bring you down faster. I dunno how much truth there is to that, just my two cents.
 
i always have a banana before i go out, and then have one/two if im still up the next am. not only do they taste nice, theyre cheap and full of vitamins - easy to eat and look amazing when youre rolling.
 
I'm pretty damn sure it's true.
Because my first time EVER rolling, I drank water.
My 2nd time EVER rolling;; I drank OJ.
And rolled JUST as hard, as my first time.
Which normally doesn't happen..
 
There is no physiological reason why drinking orange juice would enhance your roll. Psychological reasons, yes (i.e. "drink this, it'll make you roll balls!" is very convincing), but once again no physical reasons.

As I said earlier, I think it came from confusion with grapefruit juice, which inhibits one of the enzymes in MDMA's metabolic pathway. Even in this case, it hasn't been found to make a shred of difference aside from the placebo effect.

If anything (and I don't think it even has this effect), it would increase the excretion rate of amphetamines from your body, since it's acidic. Regardless, drink your OJ, as it does contain vitamin C which is a decent antioxidant and bolsters your immune system. :)
 
Yeah its a very old myth also. When started rolling about 10 years ago and it was around then. I always drank it, and i always took Vit C after my roll. But it never had an effect....was mostly for not wanting to get sick. I did get sick a lot after rolling.
 
myth, anyone who says otherwise is placebo. but the antioxidants are indeed a good idea to reduce the amount of free radicals.
 
Once i have found in internet that vitamin C does make you roll stronger so i took 500MG of vitamin c and only !HALF! of the pill..it was my friends birthday , unfortunately nobody of them were rolling, everyone were drinking aclohol. :) so i was sitting waiting for the pill to kick in..after about 30 minutes it kicked me so hard, i started hallucinating!! my heart rate was extremly high, i was thinking, WTFF have iv done!!! Then i went in other room layd down on the bed and just waited.. for some moment i thought im going to die...about 10 minutes later, i was back to normal. The pill quality is 10/10 and i know that those pills were good, cuz i always took them. So it does not make u roll harder, as the guy sayd The vitamin C speeds up your metabolism to make the pill be injested faster.
 
I have always ensured that I take vitamin C before and after rolling; it is supposed to help reduce the neurotoxicity of MDMA I believe.
 
Indeed, we should all be way more concerned about protecting our brains than pushing for marginal potentiation from an already extremely potent drug.


The only evidence I've ever seen of antioxidants actually 'boosting' the roll was in Erowid's libraries, in which they referenced a study on the effects of antioxidants on mice that were given MDMA.


Various behavioral indicators showed that the mice that were given IV alpha-lipoic-acid (a very strong antioxidant) not only had far less free radicals in there system, but also exhibited what seemed to be much lower tolerance and tolerance build-up than the mice who had not been treated.


Now, whether it be placebo or not (I don't know and don't want to know), I've noticed fairly significant results when combining ALA, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, L-tyrosine, and ginkgo biloba before my roll.

As for additional antioxidant protection, I use green tea extract and acai.
