The Orange Juice MYTH!!

Theres nothing that links the Vitamin C in OJ to any compounds in MDxx and theres no reason why it would improve the roll. Most rollers take Vit C to help rebuild their system and prevent them from getting sick after/during a roll. (Its quite easy to catch a cold/flu)

plus vitamin c is an antioxidant so it helps keep damage to the brain to a minimum

Sugar could give your body the energy it needs so you might feel better.
Antioxidants have been shown to reduce neurotoxicity...

OJ has both. But I don't think there is anything else in OJ that makes it special.

ya i always drink tons of oj before during and after and it makes me feel a lot better. atleast i think it does anyway lol

OJ is delicious and definitely good for you :)

Nevertheless, I think the myth originated from a confusion with grapefruit juice, which inhibits an enzyme that's used in one of MDMA's metabolic pathways. This enzyme has been proven to be inessential to MDMA's metabolism -- people who don't have the enzyme for genetic reasons don't have an adverse reaction to MDMA as was feared. This enzyme is essential to the metabolism of other amphetamines, which is why grapefruit juice is contraindicated for people on Adderall (it potentiates it greatly).

Sorry for the weird post...a little high and posting from a Blackberry @_@

so grapefruit juice makes u roll harder or?

Honestly I'm at the point in my drug use these days.. that I don't even care about educating people to proper scientific beliefs...

If I meet a raver and they claim that drinking oj will double your roll, fuck it.. go with it. Placebo is a powerful thing.

its a total myth but if u get the placebo effect and start 2 believe its enhancing ur experience then let the oj flow i guess, personally for me oj brings me right back down to earth the last thing i want wen am rolling rolling rolling...

OJ may reduce the damage ecstasy causes from extreme oxidation since it is a anti-oxidant. However there is no reason to believe it heightens your roll in any way.

Yeah, I didn't mean to say that grapefruit juice did anything for MDMA, merely that it was suspected to for legitimate reasons and clinically disproved. OJ probably got into the mix just because it's another citrus drink. *shrug*

And yes, placebo is definitely powerful. :D

i wonder if you meditated on projecting good vibes and super-fruit-powers onto a sack of oranges while rolling face, if drinking the juice of those oranges would do anything for your next roll. =D
