Question 3: Chemists named Hoffman (or Hoffmann) first synthesised synthetic rubber, aspirin and LSD. There is a chemist with a similar name who is notable for something relevant to us in this forum. Who is he, and what did he do?

OK...there have been some technical issues (with the site as a whole, I didn't fuck up) and a few posts got lost. radric davis guessed Fritz Hoffmann-La Roche, which was incorrect.

I'd also like to know what people think of scrapping the score limit and just having the poster with the highest score at the end of the month as winner, with sudden death in the event of a tie.

Correct!

Well, I was actually looking for "dioecious", but given that sega's answer is technically correct I'm going to give him the point, so scratch my earlier post...

^I anticipated your frustration, I'd be pissed off if I was you. Better luck next time.

At this rate we're going to finish the month with every CD regular having a single point...well, I am going to change the scoring system so that whoever has most points at the end of the month wins.

i was gonna say that but thought unisexual would be more correct. ie i didnt know if you knew the word dioecious. clearly you know your shit though good sir.

:)
always liked that about you. keep up the challenging questions homeslice!

Yeah, I think that "unisexual" is a general biology term, whereas botanists use "dioeceous". Both are correct though.

clearly you know your shit though good sir.

I'll do my best.
