InStyle and Lucky Magazine. I seriously get so much ideas from here of what to buy, what more you guys who live in the States where it's readily available! :p

I'm a sucker for Buffalo, Guess, and Club Monaco, I'm a total victim. Although when ever I go in there I only find a couple things I like. I'm extremely picky when it comes to clothes.

Undeniable proof (as if you needed it) that the rubber band craze has gone too far:

That is an S. Carter Baller Band. Yes, Shaun Carter, as in Jay-Z, as in THE RAPPER. There's a whole line of them. Takeover baller bands, Encore baller bands, 99 Problems baller bands... baller bands, for fuck's sake. Way to shit on a wonderfully touching idea.

yeah because the cancer foundation were the first to create wrist-bands.

i havent read the entire thread, for that i apolagize.

anyway, i need some fashion advice, even tho im normally the best dressed guy in the room... im taking steps to become even 'louder.'

SO, my girlfriend is really into retro/vintage type clothes and so she always shops at these 'vintage' stores.

recently she bought me this red velvet jacket with black trim. it goes to just below my waiste and fits very nicely. only problem is, what to wear with it?

i am thinking black velvet pants, red slippers and a large black scarf, hugh heffner style, but i am not sure. would that look decent?

i can post a picture if anyone wants to see it.

Business attire advice!

I only have about 4 suits, and all my other office attire either looks like it's for a garden party or too secretary-ish. Sometimes I have emergency meetings with people who dress like it's their funeral, and my boss is on my case about "courtesy-dressing".

Does anyone know of good brands that aren't too heavy (no wool, etc., I'm in the tropics!). I have some linen suits, and those are ideal, but they look too weekend-in-Bahamas.

Thanks.

where do you girls get your blouses? i get my slacks at express but i HATE their blouses. they're too long, the cuffs are too big and they have no top button. i want some that will last me a long time and look professional. i don't mind spending a bit more but i have no idea where to look, other than bloomingdales which would probably cost me a fortune. where do you go?

NY&Co is good for them.. there should be one in the malls by you... there is by me. you could always visit and we'll shop together ;)

I also have a shitload of blouses from old navy. They have stretch and nonstretch, all different sleeves (long, cuffed, 3/4, short, none), and a buttload of colors and styles.. all the buttons and they are great to just throw in the washing machine and not worry about em. They are differnt prices.. and old navy always has great sales and clearance sales. You could also try the styles out in the store, then order that style of the older prints/colors on their website cheap :)

I tried looking there but all their styles were, well, too styled. I want plain, classic shirts sorta like this:

but i don't want to pay 100 dollars+ a piece :\

I've found that good quality understated shirts like the one above cost much more than the stylized versions you'd find elsewhere.

I'm a sucker for a good fitting dress shirt that's classy but that I can wear with some well fitting designer jeans. I found one I really like at Club Monaco but it cost me $100. Most "stylized" shirts tend to have 1 thing that ruins their style.

It's hard to find "Professional" looking clothes that can work in a casual setting as well. Such as a shirt you can wear with a suit or wear with some nice pants/jeans if you go out to a club or just hanging out with friends.

I swear if I had the time and money I'd just design my own line.

Fall 06

Things I like for this Fall:

  • boots
  • the new fall colors
  • longer shirts at waist length...finally no more mini shirts
  • the thermal look to a lot of shirts i see out now
  • short skirts with the boots

Things I dont like this Fall

  • Some of the 'longer' shirts are too long...i dont wanna look like im wearing a dress for gods sakes
  • the stupid animal prints
  • i hate fur
  • seems like army prints are big again

My likes & dislikes for fall :)

likes:
puffy sleeves! (I <3 the 40's styling)
pencil skirts
mary janes
patent leather
super wide-legged trousers

dislikes:
big purses/bags
chunky/long sweaters
leggings
tapered or skinny pants

agreed on the above.

i forgot about the pencil skirts...i LOVE that style!

fall 2006

likes:
cropped sleeves on everything, especially jackets
solid, cropped leggings, especially with flats and paired with a shirt skirt or dress
i also love this season's colors like eggplant, heather gray, dark teal, bronze...
newsboy caps
pencil skirts (especially with a cropped sleeved blazer)
oversized sleeves, kimono style tops
slouch boots, wedges, ballet flats
large bags
belted, not cinched, waists
pendant necklaces

dislikes:
printed leggings, especially animal prints and stripes
skinny jeans
leggings under cropped pants, such as gauchos or bermudas
patent leather
long, chunky, early-90s style sweaters - especially with leggings
shoes with prints

animal print and fur are always ugly and obnoxious in my opinion.
well-made purses (coach) without any logo print are always classic and cute, also, in my opinion.

I detest fashion and was pissed off when i noticed that "hippy" style was back cos it meant that more people would be dressing like me (although no i don't think i'm oh so unique and alternate or anything - kinda hard to be different these days) anyway then i just got over it and reaslied there is alot more clothes out there that i liked that i could buy *shrugs* I love all the long flowy skirts and adore layers. Have been wearing skirts with my pants for years. Makes me feel girly while being the tomboy i am. Also don't have to worry about what people might see if i sit down wrong haha

I even succombed and bought a pair of those tarty fluffy ug boot things but they are just oh so warm and comfy and makes me feel like pokahontis hehe

I hate that cowboy boots are back. Wore them when i was 14. They just seem tacky to me now. Don't like those pointy heels either, they just look plain stoooopid (but then again i wear tye dye and going by the tye dye thread people think thats stupid :p) Don't like the skinny jeans either, i like my big flared jeans, i'll even make the bottoms of mine bigger by adding panels to them (also adds colour and stuff)

oh and those belts OVER shirts looks dumb too. Belts are for holding your pants up arnt they? not accessories *rolls eyes*

and i hate poka dots too!!! That stems from what i wore as a kid too though. Actually i hate all the recycled gear from the 80's. It has to be the worst fashion decade of the CENTURY
