^ having said that the umpire just missed an LBW from Peterson...

Ah fuck it.

And medi... the law states that if a batsmen hits the ball onto his pads, i.e. Ponting and Martyn in the first innings, then he is not out lbw. Another law states that if the ball pitches outside the line of leg stump, then the batsmen CAN NOT be out lbw a la Katich today.

However that said, and all, it was a fantastically tense and interesting end to the match. Now we just have to pull our finger out and win at The Oval.

This has been the best series in a hell of a long time. I hope that it continues, and that the umpires stop making bad decisions, or that if they do, they split them between the two teams.

CB :)

I heard they are going to get some decent umpires next match!

England deserve to win after the first innings though...

Damn Warnie he is a master.. *bows to Warnie*

Him and Lee are a two man team.. the amount of runs and wickets they get.. they keep the place together!

I wonder who Australia needs to drop...

warne and lee should bat four and five and open the bowling, the only way we can win at the oval! i feel sorry for 10 year old kids who r watching their first test series, they will be thinking that test cricket is always this good. sorry kids!

I think we need to drop Hayden. The whole top order needs a re-think and our bowlers need some backup. They can't do all the work!

I really hope we win the next test! I don't want to see the Ashes go back to England!

I think lee and warne should open, at least they pay the english bowlers the respect they deserve and they can put together partnerships of more than 50 runs...

Hayden is so arrogant.. just because he gets 300+ runs against a minnow country he thinks he can get that everywhere.

It's such a shame to see Australians reacting so badly to defeat. God... just think of England and their massive defeats each time the Ashes came along... They always lost, yet were able to smile and congratulate the winner.

I think Australia will bounce back though...

Lee and Warne... how bloody good are they. If we get McGrath back.. we've got it in the bag... Drop Kaspa he's shit.

Just found this and I'll be taking full advantage of Little Johnny's wise words.

PM asks bosses to give cricket fans a break
11:00 AEST Thu Sep 8 2005

Prime Minister John Howard, a self-confessed "cricket tragic", has called on bosses to cut their workers some slack so they can follow the crucial final Ashes Test against England through the night.

Live television coverage of the five-day Test starting Thursday at The Oval in London will run from 7:00 pm local time each night into the early hours of the next morning, leaving thousands of fans bleary-eyed at the office.

Told that the leader of Britain's trade unions had asked bosses to allow workers to follow the progress of the Test, Howard called for local employers to be flexible.

"Well of course the hours are a little different," Howard told Nine Network television.

"There should be workplace flexibility and that means that where it's possible, there should be flexible arrangements so people can watch."

Howard passed on his best wishes to Australian skipper Ricky Ponting and his team.

"I think it is wonderful for the game that there is such huge interest in both our countries," he said.

England lead Australia 2-1 in the gripping five-Test series and have the chance of wresting the coveted Ashes from Australia for the first time in 16 years.

So, the great battle of the bad boy Warne and the Golden Boy Flintoff is nearly upon us.

Ponting the cheeky sob and Vaughn the stuffy pommy tosser.

I just hope it's exciting, and that I don't have to listen to Nasser toooooo much.

Warney put your wanger away, that peckers gonna get you into trouble one day...

It would be really nice to see Australia get back into proper form today, but I have a feeling this one is going to England, sadly.

GO WARNEY!
7/314 I do beleive.
Hope we knock the rest over early then get in a good days batting.

How many pies can Tait deliver in one over? At least 7. :p
