Apparently we haven't had to follow on in a test since 1988 against Pakistan.

Our three best batsmen are still to come though - warne, lee and kasprowicz!

I support Australia, but I feel this cricket team needs a wake up call. Before going to England, we have beaten crap teams too easily and hopefully we will learn from this eg: Remember how to bat again.Bowlers batting does NOT count.

Well it might count in this test....it had better!

Gilchrist is due for a big score. Let's hope it's tonight. He's not used to batting under pressure though.

From howstat.com.au:
Matches where Follow-on enforced: 265
Won by Side Forced to Follow-on: 3
Won by Side Enforcing Follow-on: 201
Drawn: 61
Of those three that were won, all of them were against Australia!

However I think these stats will remain unchanged after this match... :\

Someone is going to have to pull out a VVS Laxman.

But as I type, Langer has just gotten himself out...

Fuckit.

Maybe Damien Martyn can pull something out of the bag, maybe he won't be given out lbw when he nicks it onto his pads like the last couple of innings...

This is looking ominous.

ENGLAND are poised to win the crucial fourth npower Test at Trent Bridge today and take a crucial 2-1 lead into the fifth and final Test at the Oval in two weeks.

If they do secure victory here, which they would hope to do with Australia still 37 runs behind with only six wickets remaining, it would mean a draw would be good enough at The Oval in two weeks to win the Ashes for the first time since 1986/7.

It is not done yet - they will not want to chase many in the fourth innings against Shane Warne - but they are dominant in the match, much as they have been since Thursday morning.

Such are the spoils on offer, or ignominy for Ricky Ponting - who has already suffered in this match becoming the first Australian captain to be asked to follow on since Allan Border in Karachi in 1988.

The Australian captain also risked disciplinary measures from match referee Ranjan Madugalle for speaking to the on-field umpire, Aleem Dar, after being given run-out by television replay. Ponting then gesticulated to the England fielders who had congregated in a huddle and continued his outburst as he left the field of play.

He later issued a short statement apologising for his behaviour. His ire was directed at England's use of excellent fielders as 12th man. Gary Pratt of Durham was the man who threw down Ponting's stumps with a direct hit from cover.

Jesus mother fucking christ.

Can the fucking umpires stop giving Aussie batsmen out lbw when they are CLEARLY NOT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

That's 3 or 4 so far this test.

Well hey at least Warnie is smashing them around a bit. Hope he can stay around and hit a hundred!!

England should be able to bowl Aus out.. and need less than 150 to win..

Wow... England possibly winning the ashes?

The cracks in Australia are starting to form... I wonder what ponting is thinking - First captain to loose the ashes. The best test team ever... hmm

Yeah, those LBWs are fucked.. what a joke.

yeah - what's with ponting complaining about using a great fieldsman as 12th man.

England would much rather have Jones back on the field kicking ass with his bowling than the fielder...

I remember many a time Australia using Bevan or hmmm that boofy haired fielder (mental block!)
