pietersen putting three catches down, not cool, needs to lose the arrogance but, when you bat like he does, can you blame him? i think you could probably count the number of people who have hit glenn mcgrath for 4, 6, 4 on one (maybe two) hands.

They have started already.... not surprisingly

Q. What does Geraint Jones and Michael Jackson have in common?
A. They both wear gloves for no apparent reason

Q. What is the height of optimism?

A. An English batsman applying sunscreen.

Q. What does Ashley Giles put in his hands to make sure the next ball
almost always takes a wicket?

A. A bat.

Q. What would Glen McGrath be if he was an Englishman?

A. An allrounder.

Q. What advantage do Kevin Pieterson, Andrew Strauss and Geraint Jones
have over the rest of their team-mates?

A. At least they can say they're not really English.

Q. What is the English version of a hat-trick?

A. Three runs in three balls.

Q. What do you call an Englishman with 100 runs against his name?
A. A bowler.

Q. What is the most proficient form of footwork displayed by English batsmen?

A. The walk back to the pavilion.

Q. Who has the easiest job in the English squad?

A. The guy who removes the red ball marks from the bats.

Q. Why is Andrew Flintoff the unluckiest English player?

A. Because he was born in England.

Q. What does "Ashes" stand for?

A. Another Sad Horrific English Series.

Q. What's the English version of LBW?

A. Lost, Beaten, Walloped.

Q. Who spends the most time on the crease of anyone in the English team?

A. The person who ironed the cricket whites.

Well interesting news with McGrath pulling out of the test during the warm-ups and the english batsmen right on top in the early overs.

But if any team can get off to flying start and then lose easily, it's england :)

now I've got no access to radio feeds, why is it after 30 minutes of Googling for live radio broadcasts I'm coming up with nothing.

Currently installed Real Player so I can listen to the BBC radio feed.

ah yeah I ended up getting BBC Radio 4 broadcast working after painfully having to install Real Player, but now I have worked a bent/cut/twisted wire coat hanger into the back of my television and I'm getting a really dodgy SBS signal...

Eng: 113-1, 25.5 ovs
Trescothick 58*
Vaughan 1

Warne 6.5-1-49-1

407.....not a bad score for the first day, especially at Edgebaston.

Hopefully Hayden and Langer get a good start tomorro.

My prediction.....Brett Lee will be the most expensive bowler in the series, and be dropped after this Test for McGrath.

There's no place for an express fast bowler on these soft, wet tracks....especially one with an accuracy problem.

I think Lee has a mental problem..........no other Australian bowler has frustrated me as much as he has. He must have given away at least 60 runs to short pithched deliveries yet he still pounded them in.8( As far as pitch conditions go i think it's more of a case of the weather being against him, if he is swinging the ball, especially when he gets it to swing late he will be dangerous no matter what the pitch is playng like imho, but then again swinging the ball would require pithching the thing up wouldn't it?:\

While the poms managed to post a half decent score they must be kicking themselves and wondering what could have been, especially if we post a massive total in reply. The only decent ball off a seamer to get a batsmen out was probably the one to remove Bell. Fair enough they scored at 5 runs an over but they still fell at the end of the first days play. If we manage to eclipse there total they will again be under huge pressure especially from Warne with plenty of time for us to get them out and and mount a run chase.

Will be interesting to see what the conditions are and how the pitch plays tonight, hopefully it's not too different from the start of the test and Langer and Hayden are greeted by beautiful sunshine.

Did it rain much overnight there?

Can't wait to get home sink a beer and a cone and pretend I'm there!

My prediction: Gilchrist gets 100 off 80 balls.

Cheers deeCee I have a lot of people to piss off on my side of the world. :D

EDIT: Anyone heard Kevin Wilsons song - The Shane Warne Song ???

It's raining in London atm, so cricket may not be on. Lets hope it's not the same in Birmingham.
