In the next Test it may not be Lee and McGrath you need to worry about. I'd say it will be Warne and MacGill that you will need to worry about on a pitch that is likely to be spin friendly. Warnie took 10 wickets in the last Test, just imagine what he could do in the next. I hope they select MacGill because despite being a total tool of a person he is quite a good cricketer. I also hope Kasper holds his spot but it could be unlikely if Lee is able to play and we elect to go with 2 spinners.
I think Warne will be the key in the next Test. Despite the fact England won the 2nd Test they will have a lot of demons to exorcise with regard to facing Warne. The only bloke who seems to be able to pick him is Pieterson and even he struggles at times to pick the slider. Anyone wanna place bets on how many balls Strauss will last against Warne?

I feel a little bad for Tate. What with this calling Clark up from Middlesex. They drag the guy over with the Ashes team so that he can't have a full match for ages, then they pass him over in favour of someone who has more match experience recently under his belt. It seems a little unfair.

They pretty much did the same thing with Brett Lee for ages.

That being said, it should be an interesting test starting on Wednesday. Hopefully the English aren't so far up their own ass from the previous scrape through that they won't be able to see the ball.

I just want another exciting test match!

Seems the wicket is going to be a very hard wicket with a lil bit of grass on top. May not be as spin friendly as once thought, yet still shouldn't soften the danger Warne presents. It seems to be more of a case that the pitch is better suited to the English pace attack who hit the deck very hard and will therefore get some pretty sharp bounce and movement from a hard wicket. This is probably good news for Kasper as he is the sort of bowler who really pounds the ball hard into the deck and from a fair height as compared to Lee who skids the ball through so the wicket is suited to Kasper in the same manner it suits the English.
Really looking forward to this game. My tip is that the Aussies will come out firing and will look to crush England early and get into their heads. I think the Poms will still have some significant mental scars from the 2nd Test. In my opinion it wasn't a convincing win, it was more the fact that Australia played poorly and some poor decision making was made.

24 for no wicket at the moment, Trescothick seems to be batting nicely...

:D

I can't wait for England to beat the Aussies in this game, hopefully they throw a few head hunters at Lee, he seems to like being hit by the ball ;)

Dizzy is bowling like a dog. I don't understand why Ponting is still persisting with him. He should have been given a break a few overs before the break yet he is still bowling and very poorly at that. The pies he is sending down would barely warrent selection for Bangladesh. Warne is still yet to bowl which is quite odd. The quicks have proven to be ineffective and with only 1 wicket down there is nothing to lose by giving Warn a trundle. More silly field settings from Ponting, its like he isn't concentrating or something. Maybe he isn't used to captaining against quality oposition and isn't paying them enough respect but he definately needs to have a think about what he is doing. Someone give Punter a poke with a stick and see if he is still awake.

Good fightback I thought, tho Vaughan and Pieterson threw away two very soft wickets.
Fielding was piss poor and Dizzy needs to find form or get dropped.
Good to see Vaughan back in form tho- I think he's cool

^^^agreed. They both pretty much threw their wickets away although Vaughan can be forgiven considering the amount of runs he had made and how tired and mentally drained he would be. Pieterson however fell straight into the trap the Aussies had set. I guess thats what makes him a great player though, the fact that he backs himself no matter what. Great match shapping up. Hopefully we can finish the Poms off quickly and the Aussie bats get out there and fire to make for a Test that lasts the whole 5 days.

Gillespie has to go, pure and simple. As unfortunate as it is this could be his last series if the selectors bit the bullet and give Tait a chance. It's one thing for an aging bowler to kept in the side if he's performing but it's a totally different thing to have one who has been a shadow of his former self in the team when you have a young bolwer in the wings who is will shaping up to be the future of the Australian attack.

I agree that Dizzy should be dropped and at the moment is bowling poorly. I don't think this will be his last series. If/when he gets dropped I think he will eventually regain form and then warrant selection. A bowler of Gillespie's calibre doesn't just "lose it". Everyone goes through up and down periods, this is one of those down periods and I think he will fight through it and get back to his best. He has managed to do it after times when he has been injured so I see no reason he won't come back from this. But yes I agree he should be dropped. Tait definately deserves a chance as do many other guys. I personally would like to see Bracken given another chance. Good left arm quicks are few and far between and if he can develop then he could possibly be very dangerous.

^^ he is bowling shitty but the english are belting everyone around, not ust Dizzy.

They deserve some credit.

Oi, Pekkie, what's the weather like?

Gillespie may well gain form but in what from of cricket. If the selectors bite the bullet and Tait performs well( i should have said *well* in my last post) i think it will leave the selectors very liitle room to move, especially if at the same Kaspowikz is still going well. I guess that's part of the problem, if a batsmen hits a slump there are 5 and in Australia's case 6 other batsmen to pick up the slack. When you only have 4 frontline bowlers once you drop off over a couple of matches the knives are out. Look at Lee and how many tests he missed. If Gillespie is forced out of the side for that long i don't see how he can make it back. Of Course all this depends on Tait's performance and that the continued fitness of McGrath and Warne. When i say this could be his last series i am talking of worst case scenario and i don't think it's out of the realms of possibility.

COME ON ENGLAND !!!!

Mwahahahahaha !!!!!!!

Rain is going to hold up play today I fear so hopefully we can force the follow on.

Ponting will Rue the decission not to bat first in the second test.

Well this just all bloody well sucks now don't it...

What the fuck is up with our top order??

When Warnie is consistently out scoring them, something is really going wrong. Granted there has been some spectacular English bowling, but still... come on!!!

Ah bollocks.

Well we will see what happens from here :\

CB.
