^^ Agreed - it's too easy to say "coulda shoulda woulda" in hindsight - the Victorian Labor Government have been blaming each other for inaction. Other states seem to have tighter rules / regulations / laws / training & testing than Vic does.

Hopefully the truth will come out soon enough.

I'm almost thinking the "3 strikes & you're out" idea has potential. Getting the brainless meatheads out of the industry is a better one though....

It's sad about Hooksey, but back on topic what the fuck is Damien Martyn doing in the either the test or one day side, he doesn't score very many runs, and he doesn't score them quickly.

Fuckin yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't sit down during the last 10 overs of that match, i was too nervous....aust had it made, and fucked up bad.....too a kickass finish to get us over the line!! :D Sweet as!!!!!!

Why do they do this too me? Why can't they just be nice and reliable and NOT GET OUT! Nevertheless, thank you Brett [and I'm sorry for all the bad things I"ve said about you lately.]

Props to Ch 9 for the Hookesy tribute, excellent viewing... instead of morning his tragic loss, they showed a celebration of his life, it was almost half an hour of comedy, with some cricket thrown in.

Well done!

Fantastic effort there from Brett Lee!! 3rd last ball - 6 :) All good. We were on the edge of our seats going: c'mon just hit the fucking ball. and then he did :)

Missed the Hookesy tribute though as I switched over to watch Pat Rafter in the doubles at the Australian Open.

CB :)

Yeah for the Hooksey special. It is a pity it was on so late, maybe they can replay it again (with out Eddie) in a more prime time slot.

Saying that watching the highlights of the world record he set making the fastest 1st class 100 was sensational.

:D

c'mon guys we were always going to win...........Didn't you guys read the script? There was a bit of adlibbing such as Ganguly the deadshit taking a few wickets but other than that, its generally what the director, writers and producer aggreed on.

Beech out

PS Well done Binga even if you still cant bowl for shit

Fucking Jammy Bastards.

If Ganguly hadn't put a bowler who hadn't touched the ball in about an hour in to bowl th last innings you wouldn't of been so lucky.

I'm really enjoying the Indians being over here at the moment as I think they have put in great displys and have matched the aussies on most areas.

I just wish the commentary wasn't so biased towards the aussies and it would make for perfect viewing.

Well done Australia

yeah, me too....wont see better opposition batting this good for a fair while in Australia. I'm Prob going to India for a couple tests Sep/Oct this year. High probability will get pumped.... but will be sensational athmosphere and great cricket. Its not an expensive trip at all...should be great. Any bluelighters interested in coming ? We could form our own small pack there competing against Lukes mob and the fanatics. Aussie Bluelighters or something. Although, we'd probably dehydrate quicker than most there;)

Funny how all the commentators are ex players, we live in Australia.... why shouldn't they support Australia? go overseas, you will find the same thing for whichever country you go to....

waugh's farewell test was scripted and most of it went according to plan (i reckon it was a great game) but one of the Indian players payed off the writer and last minute change was made to the script.

On a more serious note, what a load of bullshit is it that Dravid only copped a fine of half his match fees (bout $1500) for ball tampering. Video evidence clearly showing that he rubs the lolly on the ball and he gets a slap on the wrist. Much the same as when Tandulker got caught running his fingernail round the seam of the ball.
As far as i'm concerned its cheating. You pick the seam of the ball and you can get some unfair, unpredictable movement off the deck. You used something to shine one side of the ball and you can possibly get an unfair amount of swing. Both are a lot different to rubbing the seam of one side of the ball on pants or with cloth to remove dirt from the seam or shine up one side.
I guess the match referee didn't see it the same way. If its acceptable behaviour i think i'll head out onto the field this weekend armed with a tub of vas to get some awesome shine and pocket knive to give the seam a good workout. I should be able to report back with figures of at least 8/fuckall ;)

^^ I'll 2nd those comments about ball tampering. IMO it is possibly the worst offence that could be commited in the game, apart from match fixing. Both are cheating however. Cricket is usually pretty good for having a tough stance on issues such as this, but this has just been piss poor and has not received the coverage it should have.

Shame on Dravid, Tendulkar and Atherton, and shame on the match referee....you should all know better.

Ummm, i love steve waugh and all, and i reckon he's a total fucking legend, but Australian of the Year? I also know he has done other great stuff apart from cricket, like charity work for kids in India etc.....however, i think there are more worthy contenders.....even Steve Irwin is more worthy IMO due to his extensive work towards to conservation of Australia's flora + fauna, even if he does dangle his kid to crocs....

Opinions?

Steve Waugh - Australian of the year???

Gimme-a-break

It had to go to crocodile-hunter for his amazing "feed your children to wild animals" performance. Apart from Michael jackson's baby-dangling stunt, this was the highlight of the year

Border and Taylor both recieved this distinguished award. While I don't agree with any of them getting it, it would have been an insult if Steve didn't also recieve the award.

Who's watching us play the Zimmers today? I think we've posted enough to win. Damien Martyn opening the batting! Ha! Good to see Bevan getting some runs :)

And who does Grant Flower think he is? Gary Kirsten? Same could be said about Tatenda Taibu and Adam Gilchrist. Why are these 2 guys opening the batting. Although at 0/14 I could be wrong. And why does Blignaut get credit with the bat. He batted no.4 the other day!

I dont see the big problem with Steve Waugh winning Australian Of The Year. Look at previous winners, there have been a lot of sportsmen win it. You gotta look at the award for what it is, nothing overly important or meritorious. It has impressive name but thats about it. Thats not to say that Steve Waugh hasn't made a contribution to Australia and the world. As most of us are aware he has done and still does a lot of charity work in India, and its not just the bullshit work of naming a charity after himself and not really doing much, he is hands on. Then there is also his contribution to Australia as a sportsman, role model, leader and cricketer. There are probably more deserving recipients than Waugh but its the same case every year. A regular every day person (not famous) is not ever going to win because really the Award is for famous folks.
Back to cricket. Anyone think Heath Streak should promote himself up the batting order? Might result in the Zimbabweans posting a respectable score. Even though he is playing in a team that probably wont win a game this series, I reckon he may have a bit of a chance at Player of The Series. He is bowling exceptionally and making runs as well as captaining the team. Thats a large load. But I think one if the run machines from Aus or India will win Player Of The Series.
Opinions?

Once John Howard is out as PM then there won't be any more cricketers as AOTY.....

ANYWAY :D, poor Zimbabwe.....even tho i wanted Aust to win, can't they win just one game (against India of course)....did not bad tonight tho, just got off to too slow a start...
