Sorry to go conventional but I have watched this over and over and considering his equipment was all self manufactured or modified the guy was a well spring for many guitarists. Here's some footage before 1984 that demonstrates he could bash the shit out of a guitar and bring forth music and sounds that people still attempt to copy.
He didn't even play Cathedral Secrets unless I missed a spot. I remember learning that song/riff and all I needed was the correct time on the delay box I had. The rest was fairly easy but brilliant nevertheless.
