And I can beatmatch without autosync its the fact I have more time to decide the next tracks I will play, throw in some fx or loop something really cool.

And wtf is a microwave dj?

I think cueing with autosync takes more talent than ableton!!!! Do you agree with this?

I see what you are saying in a lot of ways but still think ableton is easier to create a trainwreck free set and requires less skill..... and instead more planning....
 
buy a pair of CDJ1000s and a decent mixer that you can afford.

lock yourself in your bedroom and practice non-stop if you want to get half decent. beatmatching is pretty simple to get the hang of but becoming a decent dj is pretty hard. takes alot of hours.

i dont want to sound harsh, but if you think you're going to start getting gigs any time soon you're in for a shock.
 
I might start at open decks but dude....... Im not trying to get famous over night, nor do I think thats possible. I do practice hours a day btw........ I dont really know where that came from man...

and I have a gig in 2 months btw :D
 
have been playing around with the m-audio torq xponent for a month
i have been loving it, really like this product
would reccomend it to anyone looking for a midi controller to start out
 
so I understand the concept of harmonic mixing, but how do I figure out what key a track will be after I change the bpm (pitch up or pitch down)?
 
okay I figured that out, then this question: when/how is it best to speed up/slow down a track? I've been doing it at drops for the most part

I mean, like, suppose I'm playing 130 bpm tracks, and want to transition to 132, do I just find opportune moments to speed up the 130 bpm tracks?
 
when playing around with virtual dj i found that a 1bpm increase/decrease (at around 150bpm don't know if it's the same at 130) a every few minutes is hardly noticable. otherwise try to change the pitch when there's no melody and only rhytmic elements are playing.

Yo what's up gang. Are they any dubstep DJ's on the board here? Any tips ye can give? I've got about 80+ dubstep records, as well as a bunch of other semi related music lps, and lots of other lps that really don't have anything to do with it though is danceable. I just bought a 2nd hand mixer, I'm looking to get some tables next. What would you guys recommend? I don't plan on doing hardcore scratching, just want something stable with a good tone arm.

I aspire to be as great as DJ Youngsta one day.
 
Real quick question: I don't usually get a glipse at what decks they use in the clubs but is it acceptable to use a cd mixer for a gig or no? i've been wanting to start fucking around and eventually even get like a 3am-4am time slot at a club but i dont feel like going vinyl cuz i would hate to buy vinyl

cd mixing acceptable and whats suggested for beginner?

i know i'll be a good dj cause i'm gonna be dancing my as off while i work the decks and getting people hyped up.
 
I've heard many DJ's spin that don't look up from there decks or do shit. At least do the tiesto thing were he stretches his arms to his sides and raises them up like he's gonna clap.
 
hey guys i was just wondering if i could get some advice. I wanna start djing, but with vinyl. Do not ask why I don't just use CDs or better yet software. Im just wondering what would the best setup I could get for the best price. I saw this, but it looks like the most mediocre of the mediocre if not quite shitty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and pelase don't give me shit for wanting to spin vinyl.
 
yeah, don't get that setup. craiglist is your friend. I would hold out until you can afford 1200s (you can get a pair for $500 if you're patient) and maybe a used vestax pcv 275 or something like that.
