The official 2007-2008 NCAA Basketball thread

^I think it was more the fact Love was double teamed every time he came down to the offensive end more than Dorsey owning him...but regardless, it worked.

Congrats to all the Memphis fans...the Tigers were the better team today...and took full advantage of the matchups put in front of them. Derrick Rose is one ridiculous player...

This is the first time I have to openly question Ben Howland's tactics. When Billy Packer is actually right when it comes to individual matchups and Ben doesn't see it...there is a problem. That along with just not even finding any way to get Love more touches on the ball offensively...the same worrisome issues that were there during the season just popped up.

I don't know why Howland didn't go with Westbrook guarding Rose more and Luc Richard on CDR...those guys were doing pretty well on the defensive end and created some good action for the Bruins on the court when teamed with Love, Keefe, and Shipp.

Ben just seemed too conservative and stuck with his guns, namely leaving Collison in there at point when he was getting shredded apart...rough

In any case...hope the Tigers finish the job and take it all. Screw Kansas!

As for UCLA...well there is always next year, when arguably the top freshman class of '08 comes in. This may have been a very disappointing loss...but the future looks bright and perhaps this game may convince Collison and even Love (if we're really lucky) to come back for one more try. Westbrook is gone for sure imo...

I watched the first game on a flight back (thanks Jetblue for supplying my alcoholism and sports addiction) and I had to notice how LITTLE touched Kevin Love got throughout the game. I understand he was double teamed at times, but hell, forcing him the ball worked very well in the first half. so why, in the second half, did he get a total of approx. 5 touches?! when they forced Love the ball they got Memphis's big men in foul trouble and they had to take them out for a bit. instead of hammering the ball into Love they just ignored him.

what's up with that Ben?

as for the Kansas game, I didn't see that coming. they sure can play some solid defense as seen last night. any chance of me righting my brackets down the shitter as I had UNC and UCLA having a go at it. this is very deforming to my psyche, because holding sports knowledge over someone is the only advantage I can usually scrounge up against another man.

I was thinking the same thing.....why were they not just forcing love the ball and letting him draw fouls? He was getting double teamed but thats to be expected you plan for that. why would howland not find a way to work it in to him more often?

Derrick Rose is a god imho. He's been hinting around to local press that he is going to stay atleast one more year but he hasn't confirmed anything yet.

CDR is the backbone of our team he is the BEST player on our team all around.

I also didn't see the Kansas win coming either but im glad it happened I think Memphis has a much better chance beating Kansas than UNC

where is everyone at in this ghost town? anybody have anything to say about tonight's Kansas/Memphis NCAA Championship?

I will take Memphis by ten.

I definitely didn't think that last regulation shot by Kansas was going in. They're crushing it in OT so far.

I'm not the biggest fan of bball, but that game fuckin rocked. Go big12 =). Now I just have 4 months until OU's road to the national championship begins. Its looking like a fearsome team is forming this year in Norman, with Stoops addressing many of the glaring issues from last season.

where are all the Memphis fans? can you give us a little insight on what you think your team did wrong and how the city of Memphis was after the defeat.
