i don't see any upsets in the east, Boston to the finals

west, if bynum gets into the groove with gasol, lakers will be/are the team beat, but sometimes they fuckin blow 30 point leads n' lose to awful memphis

celtics vs. lakers would be a dope series, like back in the day bird n' magic type shit. u got kobe the best player in the league with a strong supporting cast vs. kg, allen n' pierce the best record. would be epic.

thoughts ppl ?

agreed.

except that the lakers are the team to beat regardless of the Bynum situation.
they just defeated both NO and SA back to back. you could argue that they
beat San Antonio sans Ginobili/Horry/Barry but they also aren't full strength
either: Bynum, Ariza.

I'm hoping for either a Lakers/Celts or Lakers/Cavs final.

i hear ya. i remember before bynum got injured he was starting to step his game up. without him tho they possibly will finish on top in the west so yea bynum gettin injured didn't make a difference. but his numbers are solid and can get more done than turiaf, mbenga, or even chris mihm, god u know u could use a center when chris mihm and mbenga are gettin minutes.

LA vs. CLE, would be also a good matchup, if james stays with cavs maybe won't be the first and last time u see james/bryant meet in finals. yea that would be a sick match up. id see kobe as the crafty veteran school james n' a few years maybe a rematch n' cavs win. those would be some epic games.

Celtic's vs. (Insert Suns, lakers, Jazz, Warriors etc)
besides celtics, i don't see any upsets in the west. suns/lakers would be a dope series, the aging big shaq, vs still young kobe once one championships together now on opposite sides. also epic

quick note to the officials with the whistle, step ur fuckin ref game up. i hate when a damn BS call decides a game :!

Even as a potential #1 seed, people are STILL sleeping on the Hornets, like it would be a surprise if they won their first round series. If you have a record as good as the Hornets' in the West this year, you are a VERY GOOD TEAM, no way around it.

I think the East playoffs will be boring, I would be SHOCKED if anyone other than Boston or Detroit came out. In fact, I'd be shocked if any East team won two games against the Pistons or Celtics in a series. The fact that Atlanta (37-43 currently), Philly (40-41), and Toronto (41-42) are in the playoffs is just ugly. I don't agree with the suggestion that the best 16 teams (by record) should make the playoffs, regardless of conference (although I'm sure the Warriors do), despite these bad East teams. The NBA goes through cycles, the East will rise again. In the NFL, everyone says how bad the NFC is, and they had a SuperBowl winner last year. Everything evens out eventually.

As for the West, I really don't think there is ANYONE you can count out. I'd be surprised if Houston, Utah, Dallas or Denver went deep, but certainly not shocked.

The West is going to end up something like Denver/LA, NO/ Dallas, Spurs/Jazz, Suns/Rockets...I cannot stress how awesome these matchups will be. Again, even the biggest upsets (Denver over LA, Dallas over New Orleans are CERTAINLY plausible).

This should be the best NBA playoffs in years. The only thing I really hope is that San Antonio doesn't make the finals. Hell, I'd like to see them knocked out in the first or second round. Sure they are a great team, but unless you are a Spurs fan, they are boring. Let's pass the torch TIMMAY, you guys have enough rings. ;)

I think everyone here knows my thoughts on Kobelicious, and that I've been saying for YEARS that just as MJ needed help (Pippen, Kukoc, et al) before he could FINALLY lead his team to the title, that all Kobe needed was SOME help, and now that he FINALLY has it, that he shall show all of the disbelievers that he's every bit a hard-working, talented, clutch-to-the-n-th-degree once-in-a-generation basketball God that MJ was (and . . . NO - LeBron ain't there yet - beat the mediocre Raptors, and we can START a meaningful conversation - for now, Lebron's NBA career resembles Dominique Wilkins' more than it does Kobe's.

And I don't even think that the Lakers (as good as they are) are a lock to win the wide-open West.

The Spurs can NEVER be counted out, Chris Paul is going to go down as the best HIV-negative point guard EVER, and ALWAYS fear The Shaq.

And if J-Kidd can wake the fuck up, Dallas can make some noise, too.

I muthafuckin' LOVE this game!

Denver's not getting anywhere with those DUI's, I highly doubt a Denver over the Lakers upset.

I'm with you on not counting out the Spurs, too much talent it'd be foolish not to count it. I've been wrong before, though.

East - anyone but the celtics would be a suprise
West - everyone has a fair chance besides thuggets and rockets

word up your entire post, but x2 to that ^ if playoffs started today first round would be 3.spurs vs. 6.suns but in during the season the suns lead the series 3-1 n' beat em every game on the road. i hope that shit goes down.

Utah couldn't win a title with TWO Hall Of Famers on their roster.

DO you really think they can win one now with ZERO?

jazz got blown out today =/. so its set in east n' west. lookin over matchups, shits gonna be dope in the west, is what i hoped for spurs vs suns.this the reason suns got shaq, gonna be madd disappointed if they take an L. will be an upset if SA wins imo.

also hornets n' mavericks season series tied 2v7 seed. hornets needa step up takin L's against good teams right before playoff drained their near west no.1 clinching spot momentum..

big boost for LA tho, denver gonna get rolled. fuckin melo catch a DUI. its a wrap B.

How can you guys forget about the Orlando Magic?!?!?! What?!!? Superman (aka Dwight Howard) is ready this year :P Went to the game last night Vs the Washington wizards, they blew them out..... We are ready!!!!! Blue and White Ignite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're ready for the raptors, that will be easy, we've beaten detroit and boston, so whats up?? Our teams healthy and ready, the only challenge for us i see is boston, because detroit is a mere shadow of the team they used to be......Its on, I agree this WILL be the best NBA playoffs in years!!!! I second that "I Love This Game"!!!!!!!

lol, what does the past have to do with the 2008 utah jazz?
personally i dont think utah will win the west, i just feel it's up for grabs, minus the rockets and nuggets

if the colorado rockies can win the NL why cant utah jazz in the NBA west?

you're more annoying then steven a smith;)

this is one of my favorite times of the year. if you don't think the Lakers, Suns, Jazz, Hornets, or Spurs can easily advance to the Finals and win it all you are straight crazy. the West is wide open but personally I like the Lakers or Hornets. the Spurs can squeeze their way into the Finals but I hope this does not happen as I have a strong disliking to them.

the Cavs will probably be playing Washington in the first round. they could win easily, like they have the last three years in the playoffs but I can not count Agent Zero out. for some reason I like Detroit better than Boston because they are far more playoff hardened.

the playoffs, the reason why I love pro basketball.

Too hard to predict anybody coming out of the West. But I would love to see the Lakers play the Suns before advancing to play Boston in the Finals. Who knows if the Suns will even make it out of the first round. Wouldn't count on it. Still think they made a very bad trade.

The Washington and Cleveland series will be fun due to recent history between the teams, ample shit talking and the return of Gilbert Arenas.

Andrew Bynum is not coming back this season. Doesn't matter. As long as the young players don't choke under the pressure, the Lakers will win it all and there is no pressure to resign Lamar Odom. Boston is very good though. David Stern and ABC will be happy either way. No more Spurs-Pistons, for the love of revenue sharing.

It's rather ridiculous how Kobe will probably win the MVP this year, the year in which he least deserves it. He hung 35.4 ppg on the league two years ago, with an 81 pointer, outscored the entire Mavericks team through 3 quarters, took a team with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown (for people who don't know, I cannot emphasize enough how BAD Kwame Brown is) to the playoffs and almost dropped the Suns. And he finishes 4th in the voting. Then this year, he gets a ton of help, the sorriest players on the roster magically bloom during contract years and suddenly he's the MVP. Idiotic.

Just pointing out that it's almost impossible to win a title with ONE Superduperstar (Ask pre-Pippen MJ, post-Shaq Kobe, or pre-Kobe/Wade Shaq), let alone with ZERO.

No team has won a title with someone worse than Boozer or Deron Williams (as VERY GOOD as I admit they both are) as its BEST player in the modern era (1980 to 2007).

No one.

What makes this Jazz team so special that it can do things that even MJ, Kobe and Shaq (and Stockton and Malone TOGETHER!) couldn't do?

An in-his-prime Mailman and in-his-prime Stockton didn't win a title despite BOTH of them being CONSIDERABLY better than their 2008 counterparts.

THAT was my point.

You're even worse than Stephen A. Smith

I don't care if you think I'm dumber than Mike AND The Madddddoggggg.

Just give me Stephen A's fucking money.

Please. :)

Boozer = BEAST
D. Wiliams = NASTY
Kirolinko = VERSTILE
OKUR = SHAKY, but can be CLUTCH
BENCH = ........:|

you make valid points L O V E L I F E, but like I said if the Rockies can win the NL anything in pro sports is possible, and i am biased because when i was a lil guy the Jazz were my favorite team<3

but 8 years ago i became a celtics fan%)

ive always been a college bball fan 10x more then NBA, but i gotta say, NBA is awesome this year, watching most of these players during their NCAA years helps

cant wait for playoffs!
