the official 08-09 NFL thread

Im suck of the redskins GM... Instead of getting a QB which we definetly need cuz campbell is awful, they signed a kicker and kick returner, not to mention they didn't even sign DeAngelo Hall yet... Theres still time I guess, but im sick of this shit.

Fitzgerald clearly stepped out of bounds on this play. What if he had tackled Harrison short of the goal line with no time left on the clock? Would the Steelers have gotten another play because of this?

As for the rest of the penalties -- teams have gotten away with holding Harrison all season. The Cards o-line was clearly frustrated when they were losing and deserved to get called for this. In some instances, it saved them from a sack and losing a down anyway.
 
there you are! been wondering where you have been during this illustrious Pittsburgh run.

we shared many great memories during the last SB win, my friend. although nothing could beat the exhiliration of that season - this season was still a good one. are you greedy? all I can think about now is winning another SB so that we can battle the Patriots for the dynasty of the 2000's!
 
"Big" Ben Roethlisberger played in the Super Bowl with broken ribs, as ESPN.com reports.

that is crazy! has anybody here experienced a broken rib? I sure as hell have not, thankfully I have not broken anything - but people tell me ribs are some of the most painful bones to break. now doing what he did most cetainly places it in a greater light. do you all agree?

at least we can all agree on, 100 percent, that he is one tough cookie.

I'm not sure if I believe him or not.

People tend to stretch the truth a bit.

For example, right after his SB win, they were interviewing Roethlisberger on the field, confetti still flying in the air, and he claimed Holmes was his 2nd read on that game-winning pass.

Then the next day he said it was his 3rd read.

Today I saw an interview with him where he claimed Santonio Holmes was his FOURTH read. 8)

Don't believe everything you hear folks. Don't get me wrong, Big Ben is a great athlete and player, but if Holmes doesn't make that catch I don't think we'd be making him out to be such a "legend."

We'd be making Fitzgerald out to be THAT DUDE.

His broken ribs were more than likely merely bruised. By next year he'll be claiming he had collapsed lungs and only one good leg.

Big Ben is known to exagerrate injuries a tad. exagerrate, but not make up. bruised or broken ribs hurt no matter how you slice it.

and Holmes was on a pedestal for me long before the Super Bowl. I got to watch him for two years at Ohio State, where he tore it up and was obviously geared towards becoming a stellar NFL wide-out.

Fitz is so fast, however, that he almost catches Harrison again right before he scores a touchdown. he almost catches him by bringing him down with a rather brutal face mask, which cost the Cards even more because there were about 2 seconds left on the clock, but in the face mask confusion the refs must have forgot about this.

looking at Warner's arm - the call was absolutely right. I don't understand how the call could go the other way.

if you all want to bitch about a call then you should bitch about Santonio Holmes doing his best LeBron James post-TD celebration and not getting called for using the ball as a prop.

I just think it's funny that everyone claims the refs love the Steelers. during the regular season, you would think the completely opposite as I think Pittsburgh was one of the most penalized teams in the NFL.

I didn't say the refs loved the Steelers. I said the officiating was bad and they should have reviewed the last play. You are the only one I have heard from who says it was not necessary to review the last play. The Steelers got some bad calls also. It went both ways.

I wasn't trying to crucify YOU as saying the Steelers are cheaters... but I live in Central Ohio where it is a tumultous percentage of Browns, Bengals, and Steelers fans who all live equidistance away from Columbus, the capital city. and many of the Steelers-haters at the sports bar I was watching at most certainly called the Steelers cheaters, implied that they paid the refs off, and implied that the media loves them.

which goes against everything, as a Steelers fan, that I have witnessed ALL season.
 
Uh.. your friends are crazy. Besides the obvious fact that the Steelers received soem tough calls all year, as you pointed out; the notion that the Steelers would pay off the refs to beat the cardinals is ludicrous.
 
it's rough here in Ohio for Steelers fans. there are too many Bengals and Browns fans to feel safe when walking the streets at night on weekends. and I say this with all honesty.

i just dont know if they were broken. i keep debating in my head and my dad couldnt even lift his arm when he broke his ribs. i want to know how Big Ben was able to do that lol
oh still was a great game, not better than the Giants vs The Patriots though lol

try living in seattle, people here are a wee pissy that we kicked their ass in the superbowl. the browns and bengals have never been able to stand up to that.
