the official 08-09 NFL thread

the Eagles need to get a little more healthy for me to think that they are serious contenders. they can be and I want them to be, for sure.
We're quite healthy at this point, except for Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown. Curtis is expected to be back by the season's half and Brown should be back anytime now. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little worried after Curtis went down, but that worry is on hold after seeing DeSean Jackson play like that.

Oh, and did you see our D? =D

I can't wait until next week's game. Beating Dallas, which some consider not only the best team in the NFC, but the NFL, should be nice.

Now, do I start TO against our secondary? Hmmm...

peyton manning looked terribly shakey last night which was hardly suprising given the number of reps and the amount of preparation that goes into making him the quarterback that he is. im sure he'll be back in form this year but who knows when? oh and wtf is up w/ indy's new building? way to shake that small town image indy, could that thing look any more like a barn?

A side effect of joinging the DSRL, I think.

Indian-No Place is definitely a small town, but that looks much more like an old power plant than a barn. You are out of step with the values of middle america, clearly. ;)

when i first saw the new stadium i disliked it but as the game went on it grew on me. i think, initially, the scale of the building wasn't entirely clear but i really like it now.

"... a fine barn but t'is no pool english"

I hear lots of folks saying that 'this' is Dallas' year .....Weren't they saying that last year too, as Dallas (who had an easier schedule last year) began falling apart? These days you can't be sure about what'll happen in the NFL. It was much easier to predict Dallas would go far, 15 years ago! I think the Eagles could very well win this week......

actually indy is the 12th largest city in the u.s.

and, the new stadium is a "fieldhouse", based on traditional midwestern basketball arenas and is inspired by hinkle fieldhouse which was built at the bulter university in indianapolis in 1928 and was the largest basketball arena in the u.s. when it was built.

Hinkle Fieldhouse is a basketball arena located on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. When it was built in 1928, it was the largest basketball arena in the United States, and it retained that distinction until the late 1950s. It is the sixth-oldest college basketball arena still in use, and was the inspiration for the design of Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers.

so....maybe you are the one out of step with the values of middle america...

the Dirty NAP is a great American midwestern city. but boy did Peyton Manning look sluggish. instead of zipping the ball he threw it to his receivers like a second string high school QB. I know he was injured and his coach only wanted him to complete short passes and not bomb it down the field in fear of getting hurt. however, the Colts are a solid team with a great coach and they will be competing for the Super Bowl in no time.

Aaron Rodgers had an impressive showing. good for him. he has sucked enough cocks in his three or so years as a pro, saying his yessir nossirs and being nothing but more than humble to Brett Favre. I think he scored three touchdowns?

that's a lot of Lambeua Leaps.

the Broncos dismantled the Raiders. I think that this year will be Jay Cutler's coming out party.

Looks to be a good year for my cowboys, and after the handy whoopin they handed to the browns last weekend, The eagles should be trying to pad their asses so it won't sting quite as much.

Of course if they lose then you know, I never made this post.

^You're right, it is shitty.

We should have been rooting for [Tom Brady] to go into cardiac arrest and die instead.

(1) Too soon.

(2) The darker the joke, the funnier the punchline ought to be.

you say that as if it's a bad thing.

this may be off topic and against guidelines (sorry jimms) but do any of you guy bet games online? if so, what site do you recommend?

^^^it's not "bad".

it's just misinformed/uninformed when you accuse the ppl of indiana of being out of touch with middle america, in reference to the styling of their new stadium when in fact it's based on a traditional sporting arena located in middle america.

it's like we had a choice as to what that thing looked like. 8) they didn't go around knocking on people's houses around the state asking what we wanted it to look like.

I will allow gambling conversation to continue until someone lets me stop. talk about everything here odds and spreads and whatnot. I am the captain of a very loose ship. I let you, the inmates, run this little (almost secret) space of BL. as a former gambling man myself, I love this kind of talk.

Let me just say that if the Niners can't cover a TD-plus spread against a banged-up Seahawks game on Sunday...I'm gonna be pissed.

There are literally no good healthy WRs on the 'Hawks right now and with Julius Jones getting full-time carries w/ Morris hurt...man that offense should be horrid come Sunday.
