my boyfriend and i were driving around downtown looking for something to do, and we decided not to go on a walk because it was too cold and windy... just as we were headed back home, smoking a cigarette with the windows rolled down, wondrous music came through the car and pulled us into a parking space. we ran to see the electric violin and cello, battling madly, filling the street with sounds of ecstasy...
Electric violin sounds
and the deep low hum of the cello's strum
brought tears to my eyes tonight
thudding and drumming to escape they tried
-but I did did not cry-
standing atop my concrete cliff, perched high
while gabbing bobbing heads bounced below
drinking their coffee stiff and running off quick
(but not quiet)
to sniff their blow and turn cheeks
silently i hovered above
seeping in deep streaming breaths from the cocky violinist bow
... I drink wine now, and listen to this old friend i know
from coffee shop jams that happened way long ago
and i reflect of my feet floating
atop the winds breeze
while listening to the battling orchestral wings of flying strings.
