The next level of insanity in the War on Drugs targets Bolivia

The US War on Drugs has cost US taxpayers billions with questionable results, and that’s being charitable. It has also been responsible for the violation of civil liberties of countless citizens.
And that’s not even counting the damage it has done to foreign countries.
The War on Drugs newest target: the South American country of Bolivia. Bolivia has proposed lifting the 50 year UN ban on coca chewing citing it has “deep cultural and religious value” for the indigenous peoples of the Andes among other things.
In addition, according to author Steven Taylor, it is used as an appetite suppressant when chewed, allowing people to work through the day without stopping to eat–either for efficiency’s sake or because there is an insufficient supply of food.
Guess who will come out to file an objection against this benign proposal? That’s right, the United States.
According to Bolivian President Evo Morales defending the proposal, "How can it be possible that the coca leaf, which represents our identity, which is ancestral, be penalized?"
The US government argues that making an exception for the Bolivian proposal is “not good for the planet's efforts to control and eventually solve the problem of drug abuse.”
Nonsense, says SUNY at Stony Brook professor Paul Gootenberg who says there is not one scientific study that proves that coca is dangerous.
Gootenberg explains further:
"Traditionally the argument was that coca was basically cocaine and could be used illicitly to distill cocaine. But that was never realistic.”

Fucking rage.
Why is alcohol legal? “deep cultural and religious value".

“not good for the planet's efforts to control and eventually solve the problem of drug abuse.”
Neither is the war on drugs.
And how the fuck can they even think about talking about what the planet's best interest. Know what's in the best interest of the planet? Anarchy, Communism or Socialism (pick how much capitalistic taint you want to keep). But we can't do that, the rich don't want it so it won't happen. Plus we've fucked everyone up into that selfish way of thinking through every orifice, so we couldn't even trust each other enough for any of these to work well.
If anyone tried to enforce their law on America they'd be nuked down to the core of the earth.

It's fucking things like this that make me want to say fuck to life and go on a serial killing spree of those fucking soulless misers. But then they'd just test my bullet ridden corpse for drugs and use it as ammo for their war.

lol talk about delusional...self righteous dea pricks think they can stop people from doing what they have since the beginning of known time.

They are trying to enforce theyre laws on some other country, and then they still have the balls to say that its the PLANETS EFFORT. Thats contradicting yourself. Or do they rly think the US is the whole planet? :p

^^

if you only new how many times I have tried to go to advanced editing and tried to change the title but thanks for the suggestion anyway...

They can object all the want to. They won't get anywhere though. They don't own Bolivia.

They can say that Bolivia shelters pedophiles/terrorists/kidnappers/drug dealers and therefore hates american(US) freedom, shortly after (at least some of) the public starts demanding military action or heavy sanctions against said country. Has worked in the past...
Not that it's likely to happen, but nonetheless.
