so true and the poor man died with his head in a toilet.

would'nt wish fame on my worst enemy.

I read Elvis' story a few years ago and it was incredibly sad.

I didn't know much about his life and the movie helped with that. One of the things I really liked about the movie is that it shed light on his childhood and the part it played in his music, performance and drive (which I had no idea of). I didn't realise he hung out with BB King and the contrast in their attitudes to the business side of the music industry was eye opening. Towards the end of the movie I was thinking about Boxer in Animal Farm - here is this larger than life person working his arse off to support his family and all the other hanger onerers, all they (Priscilla an exception) could care about is getting him out to work and making money for them, they didn't give a rats arse about what he wanted or what was best for him, flogging him to death...

I think the movie is a return to form for Baz Lurhman, the way the story was told and the cinematography/way the movie was shot was great. I really enjoyed the movie Austin Butler is amazing, but I walked out of the cinema really saddened...

On a side note believe that Tom Parker or real name dries van something, tried to do a deal for Elvis to record one of her songs in which she would lose a massive percentage of the rights to the song (I'd say he saw her as an easy mark given where she grew up) when she was in the early stages of her career but she wisely told him to golf foxtrot. I'll have to read up on that.
