Jim Carroll was scheduled for MTV Unplugged spoken word show in the 90s before it was canceled. Just prior to the taping Kurt Cobain killed himself.

There are a lot of imitation suicides by teenagers that were beginning to happen and Carroll's quickly written and leisurely read poem ... as much conversation with young people as with Cobain ... helped many of them, maybe you were one of them.

I miss that genuine art that communicated authentically and empathetically, with that human need to understand another.
How lovely a thing to send out to the world.
