I live in Baton Rouge and had a week long Gustav ordeal. First came the 10 trees down in the area of my house, the water came within 2 inches of flooding my house,mosquitoes blackened the sky 8o ,power was off for 12 days,internet down for 14 days,and cable was down for 19 days. I am still clearing debris from yard,but life is getting back to normal.

I just feel for all the people that was hit by Ike.

How are we feeling about the "bailouts"?
Anybody lost their job, laid off or cut back?

Anybody in south or central GA whom has children may be interested that Thomas the train (in real form) will be running on tracks from Cordele and back this weekend and next. All kinds of other activities for kids as well. Google "sam shortline" for info. This is close enough to Columbus, Macon,Atl for a day trip.

Also any hunters here? I previously was not but the cost of food is forcing me to take up the sport this year. Deer, Quail and wild hogs all eat well and are readily available to take where I am. Less risk of food bourne pathogens also if taken and processed yourself.

I've lost all interest in this election; I find both candidates (and their VPs as well) to be equally horrible. We need Ron Paul...
 
I'm registered and I'm voting. It's always been my experience in voting that you have to choose between the lesser of two evils. It's sad that it is that way, but it is what it is.

Funny you mention lay offs, woodpecker, the hubby was laid off today. No warning, no "we'll bring you back when there's work"....because there's no work around here right now in his profession. Nada. There goes our wedding anniversary trip to the mountains in 2 weeks. Thanks a lot, you greedy Wall Street bastards! :(

Don't get me started on the "bailouts". You'd be reading a tirade full of expletives. :X :!

Although we don't know each other Rav you must believe I feel for you and he.
There is no jobs available where I am either. I am scared because there are more qualified people coming to the owners of the business I am at right now
looking for work. I only hope my 10+ years of making them $ will get me through the next year or 10, who knows.

You are in a position right now that while it sucks you may find that things work out to your advantage in the end (like your hubby finding something to do which he LOVES which you can no longer call work.) Ive had employment like that before and it was good not only for me but the family.

I have prayed for you and your hubby. Good luck to him and yourself

Amen.....and a moratorium on taxes and new laws would do wonders to boost the economy. Rich folks would begin to spend and would not have to "hide" monies and profits from Uncle SAM
 
Supposed to get some "Blue naked ladies" soon and i read one report that they were meth bombs or something.

Anybody know if the blue naked ladies around WI and MN are any good? thanks ahead of time.
 
Thanks for the thoughts & prayers, woodpecker & Damien. <3 I haven't been around the past few days due to major connectivity issues & getting some work tossed my way. In this economy (with no resolution in sight) I'm taking everything that's coming my way. The hubby is doing the same, and right now it's working to pay the bills, thank goodness. I hope it continues.

6 days till the election. Get out there and vote! :) If you don't vote, you have no right to complain. I gotta say this is the strangest election I can recall in a long time...I've never seen so many people so dissatisfied with both candidates that they are voting for Ron Paul. I'm in a predominately 'red state' and I've never seen so many people jumping the traditional Republican/Democratic lines to vote independent or Libertarian.

What a sad state this country is in. :(
