Howdy,
I don't usually sign up for any type of message boards, but after getting hurt I needed pain management. I have an agenda and wanted to be straight forward about it:
1. I am looking for methods to take the least amount of medication and maximize the yield. I have been offered stronger medications but do not want to take them. The pain is out of control though and I have noticed certain foods making the medications work better.
2. I would like to start a thread about effectiveness, foods taken, other medications etc that boost your yield safely. The more people who experiment with food, drinks, OTC medications - and have multiple people report their findings. That way others can confirm the data by trying it themselves. One rule I would like to state as part of this project is that it must be SAFE. In no ways am I a doctor, pharmacist or scientist of any kind. I am an inventor and would like to use the power of duplication (by use of members on this site) to catalogue and prove or disprove idea's.
If this has already been done - please point out that thread to me. I guess the term is trolling, I have been utilizing this site for a few months to get information... and have not seen this kind of project. If you think this is a bad idea or a good one, please let me know either way.
I was hurt on the job about a year ago. Before my injury I had refused to take any drugs at all. Even after surgery and kidney stones... but after I got hurt I could not function with the pain at all and had no choice. I currently have a script for 4 hydro 10/325's and 4 oxycodone 10/325 per day. I started out with only one pill a day, and about 6 months ago I got this level of medication. After 2 months it started not working for me as my tolerance increased. I would reset my tolerance by not taking pills for a while, but the pain was severe. In fact, even when it was working at its pinnacle it only took the edge off - I have not been pain free except once in the past year. I cant sleep, I cant work, I cant stand up for more than 15 minutes and feel pain as soon as I stand up. But it hurts sitting upright as well. It hurts when I lay down. I feel pain in my sleep and wake up or it keeps me from sleeping.
My doctor suggested I take anti-histamines to sleep. I noticed that they put me in such a deep sleep that I will sleep through the pain if I take 9-12 x 25mg pills. I am quite large (approx 300 pounds, 5'8"). I noticed that my medication works better with the antihistamines, but I also found out that fruit seems to increase its effectiveness as well. I plan on starting a logbook of sorts so that I... well, all of us, can get the most out of my current scripts.
To be honest, I hate being buzzed. I don't drink (ever). Not because of AA or anything, I seriously don't like the feeling of not being in complete control. The pills almost never buzz me, but the only time I don't feel pain is when I take enough to get buzzed, which is about 6-8 hyrdocodone 10/325's. I do not have an addiction, I do not crave them. And I look forward to the day I never need them again so I can get back to my job which I love (flying).
The only things I am not interested in are:
1. Anything illegal
2. Anything that can kill us / reckless etc etc.
Well, thats me in a nutshell. If we can get the meds to be more effective I wont need the script for oxycontin that I have been offered and refused. I don't need to put myself into a position to need rehab or take methadone. I have spent a few days every month or two in bed not taking anything - no withdrawal symptoms were noted.. just pain in the area's that got hurt. I like the fact that I can quit at anytime which is why I am trying to maximize the meds I have and not ever fill the Oxycontin 80mg pills or the fentanyl patch scripts I have in my pocket.
Anyone interested in the project?
F.
