Greetings to all and thank you in advance,

I have a male friend (19 y/o, 120 lbs, 5'3") that has been using meth daily for nearly a month and has started to become slightly concerned about different reactions he's been feeling as of late. The quality and dosage have varied significantly between each day, but he has lately been able to keep up with quite large amounts of good quality stuff. Also, he has told no one other than me, and he smokes with two other people. He occasionally gets sleep, though not enough, his eating is not too bad from how I've seen his other friends. Anyway, he has noticed some things that have cause alarm for him. It is a rather long list, but he tried to keep it short and sweet:

****Hot/Cold Skin: He noticed this in the beginning. But just a few days ago, he has noticed that his arms and legs are considerably more freezing cold, yet his stomach and chest are noticeably more hot. He does not sweat or shiver (shivering doesn't occur until the meth is wearing off and he's trying to sleep).
****Body Temperature: /B] He notes that this is what concerns him rather badly. Last night, about 5 hours after he smoked quite a bit, his temp. read 96.2 and his lowest temp. recorded was 95.7. Directly after smoking, his temp. can read between 97.5 - 100. A few days ago, after staying up another night, he tried going to sleep, but was shaking cold! He felt his chest and stomach and they were hot to the touch.
****Heart Rate: His heart races and the strength of the beat is really powerful. He says that his heart will beat a few times, stop, start, stop, etc. He says when he stand his hearts beats "more normally" still fast and pausing. But when sitting or lying down, his rate slows, and will still pause.
****Numbness: He's felt the numbness throughout his venture, but again, a few days ago, it was more noticable and long-lasting. He will smoke, then after 5 minutes, he starts feeling a slight tingling in the face, especially in the cheeks and underneath the jaw. He feels it in his arms, but much, MUCH, more considerably in his left. He also gets random pains in his body, but mostly in his arm and says if he "massages the area, it will feel better for a while.
****Misc.: He says he feels a "lump in the throat" as if he wants to burp, or "like that thing in your throat when your about to cry." He says he excessively burps as well. After smoking, he will feel a slight energy boost, but a few minutes pass and he will feel a sort of "fatigue or exhaustion." He says he takes short breaths now, and if he takes deeper breaths, his heart skips and his body will make him want to breath the air out. Last thing, he notices he can pop his bones in his arms consistently and believes this may be consistent with the pain in his arm and his massaging of it.

He would like to know, what is going on and if it's ok to continue? People have told him that it is impossible to overdose on meth, especially by smoking it. He's known and has read about people who use daily, though he's not sure of their dosage and frequency of use throughout the day. He is fearful of finally falling asleep as his heart slows down considerably and his extremities shake with cold. Please answer as soon as possible.

What is going on is too much meth, probably way too much meth.

Meth is vasoconstrictive, and pretty much all these symptoms are attributable to this property of it.

You certainly can OD smoking meth, and easily die of a stroke or heart attack.

Cut back dosing, or this is the beginning of the end. A little meth here and there never hurt anyone, but a lot of meth every day fucks up everyone.

We know you did it man, not your friend...you took meth balls deep lol. All those side effects are normal. Nothing to worry about.

" He is fearful of finally falling asleep as his heart slows down considerably and his extremities shake with cold. Please answer as soon as possible. "

You are paranoid. You only fell asleep in one way your entire life and you're scared to do it in another way. Just let go. LET GO.

This does not apply for opioids, taking them and falling asleep is a dumb idea but with meth nothing can ever happen.

Long term use (esp with the impurities in street meth) will certainly cause brain problems even after stopping use you can hear voices for up to 5-6 months after wards even with the help of antipsychotics. I'm not trying to cause propaganda b/c after all it doesnt need any advertising bad or good since it does that itself but i've know cases and it seem currently meth is everywhere even more so than any time before at $10/point, unlike dope you don't have suboxone or methadone so when you loose it on meth you actually loose it mind, body, soul, etc

Do you know that your forum name means "dick" in Romanian language?

Not just "street meth", this is an inherent property of almost anything that keeps you awake for many days on end. Same if you were popping dozens of Desoxyn pills a day. Or to a lesser degree Adderall.

Or even caffeine. I once had fairly severe caffeine psychosis that persisted for a while after stopping, because at the time I was unaware of any acute risks beyond cardiovascular issues (which I had none) with heavy caffeine use. Ironically having made the switch to low doses of meth (and modafinil, and a ton of other stuff after learning a lot of psychopharmacology) has been a huge change for the better.

Antipsychotics are very effective for most stimulant psychosis though. I always take antipsychs when staying up over 24 hours now.

Yes. Definately too much Meth.

What you're describing about your heart, and your extremeities is signs of acute OD (not lethal but it can be, as it strains your heart out MORE and MORE)

The more often youre taking this stuff more of a workout youre giving your heart (and not the good kind of workout)

It really upsets me that some of you say "oh just let go youll be fine keep smoking a gram or two of meth a day" This is a harm reduction forum and this guy definately needs help and harm reduction right now!

And as for your "methadone, suboxone" example that's not true. He can easily get Dexedrine or Adderall from a doctor if he is stuck at the point where he needs an amphetamine stimulant for daily use.

My advice for the OP:
if you dont want to die in the next few years I suggest slowing your meth use down, I used to be a bit of a tweaker myself (though meth wasnt my preferred) and I had the same problems, and even since I havn't done stimulants in about 8 months, I still have chest pains, and irregular heart beat. But the dopamine depletion part went away mostly. I still fear that I have done damage to my heart and my arteries and veins through stimulant abuse. And it sounds to me like you don't have the best heart either and should do best to heed my warnings.
If you really insist on taking amphetamines every day, take a cleaner one, the Levo isomer in street meth as well as the impurities are even worse for you and cause periphreal stimulation and more vasoconstriction. You can get prescribed Dextoamphetamine from a doctor. they might give you Adderall or Vyvanse first but with the right persuasion they will give you Dexedrine. Now as far as smoking meth goes, please limit yourself, its almost as bad as trying to take MDMA every day. you're slowly frying yourself and eventually you wont be able to get high anymore and absolutely HATE life without the drug in your system in high amounts.

Do you know the definition of acute overdose?

i think we know what he meant tho... no need to be so harsh. EDIT: he meant chronic useage more so... not overdose. i feel ya.

no what i mean??

OP could have other issues like hypothyroid or something too couldnt he? i read that it can cause some of those feelings, and then the meth on top of it might be part of the prob. thats ONLY a geuss.

Harm reduction is not telling people they will grow hair in their palm from masturbating.

Why? The point of stimulants is dopamine release and inhibition of dopamine re-uptake, anti-psychotics are usually dopamine antagonists?!

Meth is fucking up your body. It does it to most of us after regular use. I have cardiac issues caused by extensive meth use as well as lasting mental effects, most markedly paranoia that never went away even after 2 years abstinent. In total I used meth less than 3 years.

Dont even risk it. The dope high is not worth your health (plus the malnutrition and loopiness from sleep deprivation). Sleep and food are among our most important mechanisms, and meth basically disables them while high. Eating a sandwich and going to sleep is so much better than tweaking out on something stupid all night like a fiend.
