Travel The MEGA Travel Thread!

Just come to Florida...Anywhere will do really. I love it here and will never leave. You don't need a passport but knowing a few people would help.

This is an odd question--the places I want to visit are not the places I consider truly exotic. But, for fantasy, nothing would beat seeing the Himalaya with my own eyes. Antarctica would be a very, very close second, and the depths of the Sahara a distant third. Not surprisingly, none of these places is heavily populated; barren lands have always fascinated me. Yet, as I stated, actually visiting those places is a low priority, compared to others (slightly) closer to home.

That reads like an extension of your feelings of isolation ( ...seems pretty common among true intellectuals ) and your desire to know a world pre-history.

:)

I wanna go to Europe. Not sure where, but I said next time I get on an airplane it will be in Europe...and it ended up being in Hawaii. I REALLY REALLY want to go to Australia, but I can see that being part of a visiting family trip in Hawaii since the flight is so far from here.

From those who mentioned Hawaii, I've been there 4 times and have family there. I recommend Maui out of the islands I've been to...lots of beautiful nature, everywhere. Ocean and mountains in every scene. I know it would be on my list if I hadn't already visited there. I heart Tahiti/the other mid/south pacific islands aren't much different in appearance though?

Separated at birth? ;)

I've been fascinated with constructed worlds less populated like Detroit, and other American manufacuring and small town centers abandoned since before I understood how a combustion engine operated.

:D

Haha, I could keep going forever so I'll just pick three ;). Patagonia was mentioned above - that one of the top places I'd like to go to before I die.

Otherwise, pretty much anywhere covered by the Silk Roads.... such as:

Altai (the mountainous region around the X-shaped border between Russia, China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan):

Kashmir (As cliche as this might sound on a drug forum ;))

Or Turkmenistan (natural fire pits, anyone...?)

To name a few...

Outside of the Silk road, I'd love to check out The Îles Kerguelen, one of the most desolate places on Earth... (Closest landmass: antarctica!)

Or more familiar (but still as unrealistic financially): French Polynesia

And since we're here, I just must mention Pitcairn, one of the trippiest (and creepiest) communities...

Or, closer home (well, AT home...): The Yukon

And speaking of exotic places, here is one I'd love to see:

You are a true adventurist Jam. So many places to see in the world, I wish I had unlimited funds and unlimited time because I would visit it all, every last place.

^ Glad you like, guys :D. And I agree with spade... if I could afford it, I wouldn't stay in one place for too long...

Here are a couple others and then I'm off to bed (and I truly DO want to visit every single one of these places because there is something special about it):

Khurasan (Roughly, modern-day Northern Iran/Western Afghanistan)... This one is Mazar-i-Sharif... cool enough to have a strain of weed named after it!

Ok, I'm done.

For today :D.

The place I want to go most, the one that ignites all those magical feelings you described, Lacey, is actually not that exotic or unusual-
My number one place to go before I die is, Ireland.
There is something in me that recognizes it....I want to go and see if I do.

Right behind Ireland is all of Scandinavia-
The history and natural beauty if these areas have completely captivated me......

The Faroe Islands:
