Travel The MEGA Travel Thread!

Here are a few pictures I've taken when hiking in the Swiss Alps. The Alps are magnificent, majestic and stunningly beautiful.

The Matterhorn is truly a majestic mountain. I have never seen such a beatiful mountain. The first time you see it, you're just in awe. You can sit and watch it for hours, there's something magic about it. When you see it with your own eyes, you understand why it's so famous.

I've also been hiking in Norway a lot. Norway is quite unique and the fjords are stunning. There is a certain mystique in the Norwegian fjords that is hard to explain, but when you experience it you know what I mean. Just an example when I visited Norway a couple of years ago.

hiking <3
my mom would force hiking on me and the sisters growing up and even though i sometimes dreaded the miles of an all day hike i always ended up having a blast. now hiking just makes me happy especially when with a group of friends.

favorite spot right now would have to be...well a tie between roaring run and apple orchard falls. the latter has camping spots off-trail which ive occupied on numerous occasions. anything with water attracts me but ive been hearing good things about the virginia highlands part of the appalachian trail. some friends and i were discussing a good couple days hike on the AT in the years to come. a set goal in my life is to hike the entire damn thing but for now i need to acquire vast amounts of knowledge in order to carry as less as possible, procure muscle mass, and quit smoking.

the outdoors gives me a severe sense of self. im such a hippie in the sense that i believe people are just like animals especially when in the loss of comforts. im prone to introspection and brooding but being outside in the woods makes me act. i think less in regards to gaining essentials which ultimately makes a happier me.

there's a perfect little 10 minute loop trail off the parkway here that's adorable to eat lunch at so my boyfriendular and i went venturing on it with sandwiches midday during the summer. it was, of course, awesome and we took many a pictures. nearing the end we came across a long stone stair case that skirted around huge boulders overlooking a bowled drop off. naturally i monkey myself on the boulders with my sights set on the highest peak as the adam stayed below taking macro shots at some type of fungus. reaching the top i sit but soon after i hear a noise that sounds like the boulders scraping together at a slow pace. i look down but feel nothing moving beneath me as my ears finally receive the correct sound of a deep, gravely growl. naturally my eyes pull in the direction of the sound and over my right shoulder, down the length of the boulder i spy a thatch of long, tan-colored hair. my head jerks in the direction of my cohort with huge eyes and a mouth silently creating the word "GO" as i gingerly made my decent to the ground below. still hearing the thing we slowly but sternly walked around the trail towards the direction of the car and just as we reached another set of stone stairs we heard a huge thud on the ground with the company of leaves and sticks.
i have no idea what the hell it was. couldnt have been a bear, maybe a bobcat or something with teeth protecting young things that i dont want to piss off for any general purpose or reason. still scared the hell of out me though.

Got a coworker/ homeboy in El Salvador. He says forget Costa Rica, come where there is a hookup, and get down on the cheap. Plus Mayan pyramids and what not. My first impression hearing El Salvador is hesitancy, but tempted. This is in, like, 3 weeks. I better decide quick. any input? anyone?

The Vacation Photo Thread!

Went to Napa Valley with my girlfriends family for a couple days after Christmas. Such a nice place, and her Dad works for a winery so we got comped free tasting everywhere we went.
