Maybe I'm missing something, but I've heard from like a million people that Sub doesnt get you high at all, and in fact if you take to much it will put you in full withdrawal.

only if you bang it.....there's enough naloxone in there to throw you into w/d's if you IV it, but not when take sublingually, or even insufflated......lately I've been sniffing my 1st 8mg pill of the day w/out any adverse reactions whatsoever......So Dilaudont if you chose MMT over Sub because of the w/d thing, it wouldn't have mattered......I'm on 24mg/day of Sub. and love it.....no cravings or anything, whatsoever!!! :)

Thanks for the info, I have been checking into this one just lately for myself.

Np. I'd say it's definately worth a shot for you. Things got pretty bad for me for a while and I haven't even thought about using since on the bupe. Feel free to pm me with any questions.

Of note, I have tapered my dose considerably. While I was at 56mgs to start, I found that yesterday I when I awoke I had a mild headache that got gradually worse througout the day. The headache got pretty severe towards the evening and I took another tablet thinking it would help, which it did, for about an hour, after which time the headache returned. Yesterday I only took 32mgs or 4 tablets.

I did some research via BL on headaches associated with Bupe usage and found that people that suffered from headaches were on really high doses. Today I awoke with a very slight headache, much less severe than last night. Today so far I have only ingested 8mgs so far and feel fine - it's been 8 hours. No more headache and I feel great! I have my first follow up with my Dr. tonight so will speak to him about this. I will likely take another tablet when I leave work in an hour on my way to my appointment.

I guess my main point is, you don't have to take as much as you think you do. Start small and work your way up.

Special thanks to those that provided insight to me in other posts: mrcontin, blahblahblah, ketamike, and ItchySkratchy. I don’t know you guys, but thank you for the info you provided to me – it definitely allowed me to formulate a good plan of attack.

Hey no prob man, glad to know its working out for you :D ......I continue to still have ZERO cravings, and thats all that matters!!!

yeah it really is....then he said he tapered down to 32 which is still alot...I've been told that my 24/day regimen is alot, although lately I've been just taking 16......I feel like 16mgs/day keeps away the cravings and I dont "feel" it, while 24/day I can feel an opiate presence in my body which I don't want, cuz it's like a tease, ya know????

Tongue, 56 mgs of sub is a VERY high dose...

sorry to interrupt this program, I just punched my laptop on an unrelated issue and broke the screen..smart,,,,smart.

I am just a strange(lucky?) fucker who actually enjoy bupe on its own, and especially with benzos. I won't get much fun from sniffing it though....IV'ed its like a day-long stimulating tool with some euphoria thrown in, and its almost always free/very cheap. So yeah, some people get high on it.

First off, Itchy, glad things are still going well for you! How long has it been if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, I know the 56mgs was a high dose and went back to my dr. last night and he seemed to disagree with me a bit. He said, "as long as you haven't used, then you are doing fine", which I think is a good point. He said that if the 56mgs were giving me any negative side effects then that would be one thing, but they really weren't(at the time) so no big deal.

As I mentioned, I do sometimes find that the Bupe brings on mild headaches, but I cannot entirely attribute them to high doses as I get them on what seems to be a sporadic basis. Yesterday I took one tab in the morning, one after work on the way to the dr., and then two more on my way to the pharmacy to pick up my next allotment of 60 tabs that are to last the next two weeks until I see my dr. again. Even the pharmacist commented about the high dose.

I really think I can get by on 16mgs because I was feeling about 85% on that amount yesterday, but must say that I like the feeling of eating two at once for the time being. I come into work pretty much on fire and really focused not to mention feeling pretty damn righteous. At times when at home it is really nice to lay back on the Bupe and close your eyes and just relax. Not to mention that I am getting the best sleep I have in years in conjuction with .5mg of Kolopins/ night.

I do plan to start tapering down and welcome peoples suggestions. Anecdotal evidence would be very helpful. For example, what type of opiates were you guys dosing and how much of that opiate/day were you using before the bupe?

Thanks

:)

Does bupe produce any kind of analgesic effects?

Another words, would it help with pain if someone were taking opiate meds for pain and got addicted. Would the person still have to take the pain medicine?

I asked my Dr. this last night and he said that they use Suboxone in conjunction with opiates to fight pain in some cases. He used Oxycontin as an example. The Suboxone blocks the euphoric properties of Oxycontin, but would allow most of the pain relieving properties of the Oxy to sooth pain.

:)

well I've been on Bupe for probably a month and a half now.....previously, I had been doing 1/2 gram--1 gram IV heroin a day, with the occasional oxy 80 thrown in there......before I went in for my first day w/the bupe doc, I had tapered down my dope usage pretty considerably, so the w/d's I was experiencing were fairly minimal.....

I am prescribed 24mgs/day as I mentioned before, but I usually end up taking 16, although some days I'll take all 3.......My brother's currently dealing w/an oxy habit, so I've been throwing him a few to help him cut down & it's working well.....

I do continue to drink a lot though.....rarely a night goes by where I don't have at least 6 beers, and I noticed that when I take 24mgs, I tend to feel a little nauseous when drinking, which is another reason I have been taking only 16...I do plan on cutting down my drinking though, but that too will take time.....

for now though, I'm enjoying my fat wallet, cuz none of my $$$ is going towards heroin anymore :D ......I can honestly say that I haven't thought about shooting up hardly at all since taking bupe, so I'm really thankful for that....

Weird, my bro is in the same situation and my plan is to help in out when I taper down very soon. It's tough to be around him now though with his eyes all rolled, but I need to help the little guy. His habit is so minor compared to mine though. He does 80mg max/day.

I have had a couple of beers while on the bupe, but am uncertain of the limits. Are there dangers in drinking in conjunction w/ Bupe? I would think it would make you real groggy.

As far as your money comment, I CANNOT WAIT TILL I GET PAID FRIDAY!!! I do alright financially and I don't even know what I am going to do with all the money I will have. I am so used to spending 1g/week on opiates that I think I owe it to myself to go out and buy some stuff. Anything....shoes, new ski gear, clothing, a car, a nice dinner.....whatever, just not drugs! I also owe people money and can't wait to get myself out of debt with my buddies who have no clue about my nasty little secret.

yeah, my bro is doing around 160mgs oxy/day......after he saw how well I'm doing, he wants to quit too.....

as far as drinking on bupe?? I really don't know how much worse it is for you than just drinking alone.....They (suboxone manufacturers) say not to do it, but I kinda think that's just to avoid a lawsuit or something.....I really don't know...I haven't noticed any major adverse effects yet, but I'll let you know if I do.....

and yes, having $$ in the bank used to be an abstract concept for me, but now It has actually happened!!! woohoo!! :)

Same thing w/ my bro, he sees how good I am doing and wants out. 160mg/day is a pretty good habit - that's a good $100/day where I come from, for brand at least. Just out of curiosity, how old are you and your brother? If you don't want to answer that, what is the difference in years between you two?

drinking on bupe has been pleasurable, at least for me. I know that clinics test liver tests, but I am unable to find medical literature showing a negative impact on the liver. I tend to throw down 8-10 beers on weeknights and more on weekends. I will do a more recent search in my database and on some of the medical literature databases that I have access to.

for 160mg of oxy, 4mg a day should be more than enough to keep WDs at bay--8mg to keep the mental side down....

I noticed that in the posts above people on bupe say they dont have cravings. I heard this from a friend of mine, that not only does he not get sick, but he actually feels great and doesnt want to use.

So the question I have for you guys. Most opiate users not taking bupe can lower to a maintenence dose, where they dont feel great, but dont get sick, just feel normal. On bupe, its my understanding (or it seems) that you feel better than normal, as in better than before you ever started taking drugs. Do you feel this is acturate? (if so it seems rediculous that bupe works that well)

Also, if being on bupe feels better than being sober (in terms of daily mood) does it ever trail off? where the seemingly mood lifting or anti-depressive effects diminish?

Lastly, can you explain how you could possibly not have cravings? Even if the drug makes you feel normal or slightly happy on a daily basis, if y'all remember the reason we started doing drugs to begin with was because being normal all the time isnt much fun. Getting high provides that wonderful blissful escape from reality. It just seems in my opinion feeling normal isnt good enough, because just feeling normal was the precursor to most people becomming addicted.

any thoughts? (i may just start another thread for this)

Bupe and Mood

(I figured it would be best to start this in a new thread, the question refers to the thread below entitled Bupe)

Your friend is right.

By your standards people on Bupe aren't sober. I feel pretty sober though. I've felt exactly the same for the last week...pretty damn solid.

I think Bupe is used for depression in some cases so it must have some mood enhancing capabilities,

No cravings, you don't even think about it. At least I don't.

Bupe REALLY does make the cravings seemingly go away (mentally) and it definitely hides w/d's.

I don't know how, but it does. It makes me feel normal, and I'm fine with that. It's better than searching for the next score everyday, that's for damn sure.

I don't know how I don't have cravings when I'm on the sub, but I don't get em. It's as simple as that.
