I have a 1200cc, 1977 Honda (owned for 10 years) and just bought a KIA minivan, which gets about the same MPG as the Honda. However, I hardly ever drive and ride a bike two miles downtown once a week to get mail and do business.

Think of all the children you could have feed with the money you spent on a second vehicle, which you say you hardly use. See, there are plenty of larger "sinkholes" for resources. Why have a TV? Why have any comforts at all? Or do you think people should keep ahold of all their comforts, and just kill their pets first?

Do you take drugs? (a rhetorical question) How much resources were used to create the drugs you take? How many children in Africa could be fed on that? Every ecstasy tablet you buy you spend money on yourself which could feed 10~20 people for a day.

Do you consider your own pleasure above that of the life of an animal? Are you happy to kill a pet so it stops pointlessly consuming resources, yet happy to carry on taking drugs, an unnessacery use of resources compared to feeding starving children in the Third World?

Are you saying pets are mentally ill because humans imprison other living beings?
Well I guess I should dump all my potted plants outside, and kill all the insects in my house, because keeping them for myself would be psychotic.

Maybe your mind is mentally ill, because it is imprisoning the animal in your brain.
