the market: stocks, bonds, options, whatever

Hmm. NYSE: QSR. NYSE: ARCO

"Semaglutide patents (Ozempic/Wegovy) begin expiring in major markets like Canada, China, India, and Brazil in early 2026, allowing for generic competition and lower prices"

"Arcos Dorados Holdings is the world's largest independent McDonald's franchisee, operating the brand across Latin America and the Caribbean, including a massive presence in Brazil"

What if countries like India start buying generic Semaglutide for ~90% lower cost and they buy less fast food

QSR collects royalties for Burger King's and others in India but I think it's only like $300M of their revenue. Tim Hortons is nearly half of their revenue and like 2/3rds of their profit

Brazil has a similar obesity rate, but India has way more people. "One in three Indians (approximately 450 million people) are classified as overweight or obese"

Probably smarter to just find the generic manufacturers of Semaglutide and buy their stocks instead of shorting the fast food companies

I took a vow of poverty, God seems to be alright with it but the government is a bitch

i hope we can at least keep paying cash

used to be they'd ask "cash or credit" at the store

recently i got "debit or credit" and it really bothered me

every time there's an internet snafu it takes the whole network down anyway

cash still works when the machines don't

Yeah, Really. In God We Trust. Everyone else pay Cash, right !!
I will starve to death if they figure out how to phase out cash. I don't even have a bank account anymore. I buy everything in cash and it's very annoying being stuck behind people in stores paying with cards and phones. Even when the network is up half of them can't figure it out and their chipped card never works the first time. God forbid they're attempting to pay with their phone. It's even worse.

I don't understand why people refuse to use cash. It helps you budget your money because you can see what you're spending as you're spending it. Going to an ATM or the credit union once a week to withdrawal what you need for your weekly budget isn't a big deal. Spending an hour or two every month paying bills in cash in person isn't a big deal.

If I need to order something from ebay I just use a friend's credit card and pay them cash. They love it because they're getting "rewards" which mostly amount to free trips to disney world and flights. I myself refuse to ever get a credit card even though I know I wouldn't screw up with one. I don't want to contribute to the massive scam that is credit.

Honestly, I hate paper money to. But at least every transaction isn't getting logged in a database somewhere.

One annoying thing I've noticed lately is younger new employees don't seem to be able to handle cash and coins. They can't count back your change quickly even though the register is doing all of the math for them. You hand them a $20 or $100 bill and they're baffled and upset.
