Like a rising sun your friendship warmed my heart.
It’s golden rays lit my face and made me smile.
Sure, a brief cloud hid the light from time to time...
But I always knew the sun was still there...
I always knew I would feel the light again.
Now I see nothing but darkness.
Do black storm clouds obscure my light?
Is it passionate rain and thunder that fill my eyes?
Is this a cleansing storm that will wash away the hurt?
or...
Is the storm in my eyes the tears of loss?
Has the sun set so soon?
Is there naught but darkness left?
I cry for the loss of the light.
I cry for the loss of your friendship.

Sometimes I think it is possible to love our friends more than we love ourselves. Very possible to do so - we see the best of who WE are in them, it is why we choose them for our lives, our loves, our dreams.
Losing a friend, someone you love, is like losing a part of yourself. No matter what the reason for not having them in your life, having to miss them can be unbearable. All we can do is keep the important parts of what we learned from them. Take that into the rest of your life, and then you haven't lost them completely.
But don't make the mistake of walking away from a friendship because of a mistake they've made, not without thinking about it hard and long. It may not be their mistake that is haunting you. Sorry to have rambled in your post, hope you are smiling today. :)
