Hey I've been looking around for some Imformation on melatonin and wanted to know if it falls under the tryptamine laws in australia?

Hmm i dont think im gonna get prescribed im a fairly health and mentally stable young man :( i guess i should be happy about my good health the :)

I wish melatonin was over the counter in australia really. Don't see why it shouldn't be and I am fucking sick of my insomnia, but I don't want to go see a doctor.

Its an over-the-counter supplement in the US, but apparently dispensed by prescription in Australia and Great Britain. Wikipedia reports its specific status in Australia to be "Prescription Only (S4)"

In the UK its not illegal but not really sold in shops. I'm sure you can order it online pretty easily, it wouldn't be actually ILLEGAL I don't think

Of everything doctors have suggested/prescribed for my insomnia, this worked absolutely worst. It is prescription in AUS, but I don't recommend you go out of your way to get it. Honestly, the only really effective 'medicine' I've found for my insomnia is to smoke a bowl just about a half hour before I go to bed. Two if you have heavy tolerance.

A lot of people swear by melatonin. I'd be willing to try it due to its lack of side effects over some other things.

Melatonin is popular as an OTC sleep aid. Personally, I don't find it that effective, although I've never taken more than one or two tablets - other prescription sleep aids like ambien, OTCs (at least here) like diphenhydramine, or just good old cannabis all do the trick better than melatonin, for me at least. My parents sometimes use it to take a break from their prescribed ambien, though, and I guess it works alright for them.

I don't wanna keep needing a cone every time I go to sleep. It's too much of a hassle and a requirement I just don't want to be having. I don't care how minimal the damage, it's a weak as piss vice that I'm not going to go for.

melatonin can cause prostate cancer, so i wouldnt take it if i had a penis

dude he doesnt need to take that bullshit and smoking cannabis every night isn't good

try just wearing yourself out during the day, that helped me alot

Fuck off, Teo. I didn't tell him to take anything. I was describing my own experiences. You are such an asshole. Keep your judgmental opinions to yourself about other people's choice of use - have we not been over this enough with you or are you just too stupid to get the concept? I'm sick of playing nice with you when you make no effort to do so yourself for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Eldaren - needing any sleep aid is a 'vice' just as much as pot, isn't it? At any rate, it's a HELL of a lot better for your body than taking melatonin on a nightly basis. If you take melatonin too often, your body cuts back its own endogenous production.

Teo and empirical sources don't play along. I've never heard his claim from anywhere credible, there's no such warning on melatonin products (which have long since been FDA approved OTC sleep aids)... My own quick search seems to confirm your view - "melatonin prostate cancer" returns page after page of google results about melatonin REDUCING the risk of prostate cancer.

His constant spreading of bad info on a harms reduction site is becoming even more annoying than his being an arrogant ass about drugs he doesn't use himself.
