The Last Laugh
So I feel it all approaching and apropos
Of nothing tangible (yet something
Nonetheless real enough)
I cower into the shadows.
When they burst in - through the
Shattered doorframe of my sanity -
I will go quietly and quickly;
Painlessly, in a manner of my choosing.
Much later, when the questions are
Being asked and left unanswered,
They will, frustrated, stamp their
Feet like cattle whilst I look down
And smile through my tears.
