The Last Covid-19 Megathread v. Hopefully...

The vaccine does not appear to prevent catching it, getting sick from it, or transmitting it. So there is no reason to be pushing everyone to get it anymore. If you want to get it, go for it. I got boosted, if I could go back, I wouldn't have, especially since I got it about 45 days after getting boosted. It just looks like a money grab to me now, they made all the vaccines, and they have to sell them. I was calling people idiots for not getting vaccinated back in 2020... I'm not anymore. The risk to reward ratio has flipped, unless you're particularly vulnerable.

I may be wrong but I don't see any real effort to push the vaccines anymore. No more commercials, no more PSAs, no more mandates or anything like that, at least not in my area.

Other than an NPR report announcing the new omicron vaccines were available I can't even remember the last time I saw any push for vaccines.

a 1.5 pound aluminum bat is less deadly than a 2 pound wooden bat, does that mean we don't need a helmet anymore?

Not nearly as much anymore, but there are still vaccine restrictions on international travel , and the recent attempt to not only prevent unvaccinated kids from attending school (in whatever state that was) but to deny them even any remote learning options. That was struck down (or "delayed" anyway), but it was an attempt by that government to enforce vaccines, which is a lot worse than vaccine ads or PSAs.
 
Well yes that's true, I'm not saying there is no risk, but the flu kills around 36,000 people every year. I don't have numbers on the current covid strain. I wouldn't doubt if it was worse than the flu, but it's nothing like alpha and delta where there were thousands dying per day. When was the last time the world implemented anything remotely close to the measures they are for covid, for the flu?

Like I said, if it was still alpha or delta I'd be singing a different tune. But my position has shifted. If you want to get more vaccinations against it, I have no problem with that whatsoever, I just don't think it's something to be more scared of than the flu anymore. We should be treating it like we do the flu.
 
@Xorkoth The overall death rates for omicron are actually higher than alpha and delta. Total covid death rates are significantly higher now, we just don't hear about it. Less acute illness just on a greater scale.

Omicron is less deadly but even more transmissible. More infections, more death.
 
Well now they downplay it because they don't want you to know how shitty the vaccines are

no the death RATE is way down but total deaths went up because well what else are they gonna call all those vaccine deaths?

the overall death rate is through the roof right now and its not from covid and they can't imagine why :shrug:

How many of those numbers are people who tested positive within 30 days of death? (Didn't die from Covid)

they're going to retcon the shit out of this in ten or twenty years. hopefully by that time the government collapses completely. if you see it about to fall over, get out and help push

i can't wait for the really fascinating evidence you present for the absolute overflow of deaths that were misrepresented as having been directly or partially attributable to covod-19

I the total number of deaths was higher I could see that, because now everyone has had it basically, even multiple times. But the death RATE? I honestly just don't believe that. Doesn't at all pan out with what I'm seeing or hearing, from anyone. I lost 2 family members to alpha/delta, and almost everyone I know lost someone they or a family member or close friend knew to it. I don't know of anyone who has died from omicron. Do you? Does anyone in here? Obviously I know people have died and are dying from it, but given the number of cases is astronomically higher, for the death rate to be even AS high, let alone "much higher", you'd think people would be dropping like flies.

That’s the situation in a nutshell, clear as day to me, but I guess some people need to be told by the government or the company that makes it….which is just beyond stupid to me

i think i might go back to not responding to you anymore, @Las Veghost grower ... unless you've got that superb athletes dying from the vaccine evidence and/ or ANY good evidence for there being a substantial amount of vaccine deaths (like ANYWHERE close to the virus deaths).

seriously, i'm EARNESTLY waiting for you to back up your amazing claims and insinuations, but i'm getting impatient.
