The importance of CREATINE for PSYCHEDELIC harm reduction especially MXE

My role was to suggest drug users needed a site like this to discuss harm reduction. Someone else took the idea and started the site itself. Whoever I met on lycaeum back then. I was far too young to have a part of it, and we lost contact afterwards so I had no idea it turned to this until I put together the pieces eventually (someone posted here a while back about how the site was started in response to the death of the kid, and later I remembered the lycaeum discussion we had about it before bluelight appeared). Eventually I put together the pieces. If you can find the lycaeum archives and they go back that long the discussion of that kid's death would be there. Anyways my point is that I would really like for some people who are getting the infamous brain zaps from abusing stuff like MDMA and 6APB; the strong neurotransmitter releaser/reuptake inhibitor drugs, to try this out because I feel it can be of great use for them.

It is the reason I rejoined here (anyone wonder what happened to psychedelic peptide?- he just finished his big degree), as I have been trying to stay off the drug forums for personal reasons, but I simply felt this was too important to keep quiet about.

Yes, many years ago I wanted a place to discuss drug harm reduction. Now there is that place, and I needed to use it so I am. Yes, I feel pride in the fact that I was a part of the conception. This is a great place and serves to be what was at the turn of the Century a great unmet need for drug users in today's age of technology. Anyways...

Atara how do you know that people using cyclohexanones are at risk of kidney damage?

Another point for everyone, have you all considered if there is any of this precious scientific evidence that supplementing tryptophan or 5-hydroxytryptophan restores serotonin levels in the brains of humans following use of drugs like MDMA or 6APB?

Or is this just another "We think it helps so we do it" type scenario, where the "proof" that it works is simply a bunch of anecdotal evidence/personal opinions?

I'm not trying to discredit using tryptophan as a pre-load, it makes sense that it should help. But I am not aware of any human autopsies of people using MDMA with and without tryptophan supplementation to prove that it truly does work to replenish serotonin levels.

But in this sense, using creatine makes sense as a pre- and post-load just as much. Think about the biology behind activating a massive number of GPCRs in your brain simultaneously with a drug ligand that your brain does not naturally produce. This process will cause you to use up tons of ATP. It is just how stimulating GPCRs works- they are coupled to the enzyme adenylyl cyclase (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adenylyl_cyclase) which converts lots of ATP to cAMP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_protein-coupled_receptor#Details_of_cAMP_and_PIP2_pathways) until it shuts off (I'm not sure it is known exactly how much is used per activation cycle). Hence your ATP is at risk for being depleted, and your brain is going to need more ATP for normal function after the drug effect has worn off.

It is pretty simple really. The fact that I was binging on MXE/6APB many consecutive weekends in two separate multiple-month stints last fall and this spring, and was met with those miserable brain zaps during both experiences only to start up again this fall when I was using daily creatine malate to help with weight lifting in the gym and now have been brain zap-free for months is all the evidence I need to feel justified about trying to promote this concept for people that do the same thing (binge on similar drugs).

I know at least some people have encountered the brain zaps. Perhaps most of you don't use things to the extent I do, and so you would never get to the point of having the zaps occur. But I remember a lot of posts here over the years talking about it, and so I feel it important to stress the issue until some people who are doing the same will try it.

Regarding the potential for renal insufficiency that was observed in 1 single study of a single patient undergoing prolonged (2+ years) daily use of creatine, I would again advise using creatine malate as one possible reason for regular creatine to cause kidney problems is the relative water insolubility of creatine. Regular creatine could begin to accumulate over time in the kidney because the solubility is so poor. Creatine malate is more soluble and hence could be less susceptible to causing this effect, if this is truly the reason for this to occur.

And you don't have to use creatine (malate preferably) for years at a time. You can try using it as a pre- and post-load for a few days and stop if you are worried about kidney issues. This is a new idea so I am just hoping to find a few people that get the zaps will be interested to try it out... instead of me getting blown off as a "zealot."

Tis true. My life used to be wretched before creatine. I was puny, weak and weakminded and had brain zaps. Now with creatine, Im a lean and muscular 195lbs, 5'3 and I get all da bishez and no one can pick on me

lol I really like that you said this, I used to be on the diving team and I was pretty damn built, now I've been going to college and i'm poor as shit so I don't have nearly enough time or money to eat/workout as well as I should but you just inspired me to really try and change that! I'm on the market for some creatine.

do they sell creatine malate at GNC? or generic pharmacies like riteaid or CVS?

It is probably easiest and cheapest to buy it online. GNC might not know about the malate form yet. Definitely go malate.... regular creatine is gross. Hard to digest and swallow. I get mine from biotest but there are plenty of other vendors.

Anyways, my underlying point is that creatine supplementation can provide some serious psychedelic harm reduction.

And, we, as a community, have been missing this for some time. =)
